MPV Review : Secret Shy Boy

Yes, I know I'm really behind in reviewing and I shall be on track because I'm on a holiday for 5 months! ahaha..but I'm trying to keep myself busy soon so this isn't a promise okay? I choose to do this review because I know Secret had a hard time doing this song but I think they pulled it of well. I got to applaud at their determination!

After the do bop do bop part of the intro.. I hate the high pitch part. If it wasn't Secret, I probably stop playing. Thank goodness it was short and Ji Eun voice comes in. Just from the vocals alone I can't tell who's who.. which is why I don't like high pitch voices. I'm glad they didn't use auto-tune for this. I totally didn't expect a rap part but it was nicely done without being awkward in such a lovely bright song.

Without looking at the video, I could know who sings. I prefer this a lot more than the recorded version. I don't like the intro much but the guy part was a nice touch to it. I enjoyed this performance thanks to the loud fan-chants! OMG, all the fanboy was awesome! I wished I was there. The choreography is fun and bright, love it!

Perfect for their theme, the colors were beautiful and lovely. It's a vast difference from the previous single, it good to see variety from them. I wished the storyline was stronger because it seems like it emphasize more on disliking bad boys rather than chasing for shy boy. I want a shy boy to be the main character. The dresses in this video is pretty and lively so this concept is really great for this song.

MPV Review : SNSD Hoot

Sorry for not blogging much although November is coming. November will be a busy month for me so I'm glad SNSD is back before November!

When I first listen, I didn't have much thought. It's just good, and I have nothing bad to say. I like the mixture of modern beats incorporating with the spy music. A clever sampling technique to fit the whole concept of the song. The voices are expressive as it fits the emotion of the song. It's a little theatrical but subtle. The "hoot" part started as annoying (which funnily reminds me of an owl) but as I listen more of it, it's catchy!

Performance



The stage could have been better and the outfits were my least favorite! I really love the choreography! It's so fun to watch and I am already imagining gagman to parody this later on! The girls looks so gorgeous..It seem our dear Hyoyeon didn't get much screen time again, mr. cameraman(or woman)..I tried so hard to find her! Seohyun eyes are still dull, I want more emotion in her eyes but I can see she's trying. Sunny's blonde hair didn't quite suit her...

I think the video is perfect. I wasn't expecting Choi SiWon..ehehe and he did great! I was hoping the other guy was Heechul! I love the lift concept, I felt like everyone has an equal amount time on screen! The background is probably too colorful but I like it. My only complaint would be the lighting..it made the video is a yellowish hue..which isn't a nice color tone, but I guess it adds a vintage feel to it.

MPV Review : Beast Soom

Someone needs to update on me this, has Beast changed its name again or is Allkpop making a mistake by naming them B2st? Yes, they initially named as B2st but it later changed officially as Beast. B2st is simply a style like ZE:A which is formally known as Children of Empire. It's confusing but it irritates me to have wrong infos on my favorite boys!

I'm not going to lie, I didn't enjoy this song. I was left disappointed because they didn't promote a ballad which they teased us with. However they won, I guess this concept works for them but I want something different. The song is similar concept to their previous single "Shock" which brought them success and I can understand why they pick this song their main single. Another flaw about this song is the intro, I don't mind the heavy breathing effects but I don't like the similar 2PM Heartbeat intro plus DongWoon's belting vocals. It's just puts me off that I actually stop after that, I never did this to Beast's other song.

Yeah for DongWoon didn't sing his part in the beginning! YoSeob is flawless! I love his voice and it suits the song well. I have seen him with black hair but it was so weird seeing this new hair. I want the blonde hair back! Everyone looked good...HyunSeung ah, why must the stylist give you odd hairstyle? You're known as a prince back in BB days...now you're, I don't know..DooJoon's hairstyle is not much different from day 1, I want to see him in something else.

With Better Together and Digital Bounce overload with auto-tune, I wasn't expecting to love this song...actually I was going to skip it. Thank you for releasing a beautiful MV or I'll probably wouldn't have listen to this. It's slightly acoustic with a touch of modern beats. Se7en voice is beautiful too, didn't expect it so I love it more.

Performance

I didn't know that this song was hard to sing but at least he didn't lip-sync. The concept is nice but I don't like the background visual, I would like it to resemble a park more since the stage has park bench. In my opinion, the dancer acts as his memories so it does work too but I think it would make more sense if he acted as a narrator.

Park Han Byul is gorgeous! I really love her in Everybody Cha Cha and I'm so happy to see her with her real boyfriend in life Se7en! First thing I got to say is, poor gold fish... I wonder if it survived. The plot goes well with the lyrics but as much as I love the plot I wished they leave out the dialogs in the middle. I want the song uninterrupted. Some didn't like the mv because it's sad but I like it. Look at Untouchable Sleepy and Hwayobi...they had a really cute video but they broke up. This couple knows that they don't have to worry about showing this side of their relationship to the public.

MPV Review : SHINee Hello

I'm trying to limit to write on MPV Reviews because I want variety for my blog but it's hard because there's so many songs I love to talk about. For SHINee's Hello I couldn't pass because I already did for the previous single.

How should I put this...it's not exactly catchy but I'm already humming by the first listen. It's probably because of the hook "Hello". I like the "hello" part was put more emphasize on Onew voice because it made soothing to listen. It's definitely a nice change from their previous single.

Performance




Nothing is better than to see smiling faces in performance. I love seeing their cheery faces on stage especially Taemin because he look weird when he frown. I didn't know Minho and Taemin had vocal parts...I was caught off guard with Minho's voice when I listen to it. When I haven't look at the performance, I was wondering who's voice was it. Taemin's voice is a little similar to JongHyun.

Not much of a storyline but there are good scene that shows the gesture of the song. The camera works are nice, I like the cameraman plays around to match with the song rhythm. The MV reminded me of Super Junior No Other MV..I think it's the same concept where the video can be seen as a personal video to the lover. Smile can melt anything. :D

MPV Review : Wheesung I even thought of marriage

Back when I didn't know much about Asian music, I once watched WheeSung on MTV and didn't like his voice. I don't like the tone of his voice, it's very deep that it sound fake. With just that one song, I avoid his music. As I become more aware of Kpop music information, I notice a lot of people praise WheeSung voice in comments so out of curiosity I check it out again. I find it hard to like his voice but I love his song so it leads me into liking him.

Music

The intro was good enough to pull me to listen the whole song. The rhythm of the song is very theatrical, it feels like it could fit in a musical show. The orchestra instruments execute a dynamic feel on the song that it gives more emotion of this song. I love the composition of this song though the lyrics can be improved. The introduction become odd as it's a little too hip hop.

The performance was a little boring. I wish he played a little bit with the choreography to make it more classy instead of RnB. The only good thing I could say is his vocal is amazing. I do think he stresses on the singing more because you could see his vein while belting out.

I've said this countless of time, I want story line in MV. I don't know how else am I to comment on this video because it's all about the dance and outfits only while I already did that in performance. A MV should be at least have an elaborate sets if they're going to this kind of video. I have seen similar sets countless of time and it bores me.

MPV Review : Homme I was able to eat well

Homme is a collaboration of duo consist of 2AM's ChangMin and 8eight's Lee Hyun. Whoa notice the similarities already? I'm not too sure who to credit but both companies are affiliated. The title is interesting..and making me hungry.

I love songs that starts with the chorus, it creates instant familiarity to the song. The song is a little pop, country and rock. It's an interesting mix that isn't usually found in Kpop. Lee Hyun's voice and Changmin's voice creates a soothing harmony. I initially thought their voice sound similar but I could tell the difference. I was hesitant to listen this because of the promotional pictures..I mean I don't expect ballad singers to show off their body. As Lee Seung Chul says, "singers should train the voice not just focusing on having the best body"

Performance



If it's a dance song, I would like singers to sing exactly like they recorded. As for ballads, please do ad-libs. Performance is about giving the audience something extra to showcase better of your talent. The part where to look at each other is nice until they keep on talking about how they don't like it on variety shows. Some secrets should be kept. I keep on thinking the other person wants to laugh.

Probably other girls like it but I don't like the part the boys standing in front of the mirror together wearing only towels...Go away unwanted vision! And they have to show off their body...I really want to stop watching after that scene. I was glad to see Lee Chae Young in this video until she dances...I don't know what to think of it. Hahaha she stole the car, nice. I don't get the concept of the video..I haven't check the translation but I thought the song is about feeling relieve about something? Since the title say "I was able to eat well"....The video is totally confusing.

MPV Review : Secret Madonna

I probably will start to get back on my usual MPV Reviews while I could because I'm in final semester. Secret is actually one of my favorite debuts last year because I knew all the girls (except Zinger) before debut. Three of the girls were featured on Untouchable album before so I know what I was expecting.

A lot of people commented that this song is similar to their previous single "Magic". I couldn't agree more, that was my initial thought of the song. Secret was accused of plagiarize, but I think it's more of having their own style. Though I'm not liking this style. I'm not fan of Madonna as a person so I can't enjoy this song as much as I wanted. Secret actually disappointed me because they actually gave us this teaser.

The teaser is so classy and glamorous. I love their voices here and so imagine my disappointment that they choose to do Madonna instead.

Performance



I must say I like members to be in odd numbers because I prefer seeing a choreography with a person in center. I'm confuse of which part I should focus on. I love them wearing dresses but often Zinger would be wearing pants which I think is odd..

Except for HyoSung hair color..everything fits the concept glamorous. I love the dresses..It look so beautiful. The solo shoot is okay but Zinger's set isn't suitable with the band. I would like the set to be more luxurious. Ji Eun set is nice! I love her singing with the microphone and the background reminds me of Grammy. I don't like the second group shoot where it's a little jungle-ish. I don't think it fits the whole glamorous concept well.

MPV Review : Hot Potato Confession

I usually post only new songs for MPV Reviews and while this could be considered as old song by now, I haven't check this out yet. I've been wanting to do so but as you know I got caught up with the idol frenzy. I choose to do this song because it's by Kim C's band. :D

It started with a slow tempo, almost like a depress feel to it. As the song progress, the song lives up and it's cheerier! I have heard this song on the show 1D2N so I'm familiar to it. I love the acoustic in this song, it plays a lot of raw emotion. Kim C voice is soothing despite it's raspy. The chorus is enjoyable, I'm imagine if this song was sung in the concert, people would sing a long to it.

The thing about why I don't fancy bands that much is because the camera tend to focus on the vocalist ONLY. I want to see the rest too, probably long shoot is better for bands. I wish Kim C clean up a little...he's way too scruffy! It's nice that this is live.

I wonder if this is the real MV because it doesn't feel like it's properly done. I do like the scenes of the movie but it's just messy. The song is an OST for a movie so I'm sad it doesn't have another MV.

MPV Review : Nine Muses No Playboy

The song was produced by JYP, it's not surprising to spot some JYP style in this song. Many compare them with SNSD however, I'm not going to do that because similar in number of members don't mean anything. Oh I almost forget, they come from the same company as ZE:A which also consist of 9 members.

The background beats has this familiar tune. It's like a rhythm you often heard on clubs in movie or drama. I think I've heard the beats from Rihanna songs. I don't like the "No" part because it's like the part was altered higher volume then it got cut in the middle. I would like it to be done naturally by the girls. The highlight of the song for me is the rap. The singing part reminded me of SoHee singing style, not a big fan of it. For a debut single, this is bearable.

The girls look so a like..here we go again! I'll take my time in learning their names..maybe second single will do it for me? ehehe. I hate uniforms so I wished they at least wore in a different color..They should take note of SNSD like wearing number or different colors..or even having the names on the outfits! Anything to make it easier for me to remember names is a good thing. If I'm not wrong, Nine Muses is known as Model-idol right? they cleverly input the runaway catwalk into their dance choreography.

Maybe I should have not watched 2NE1 videos before this. Not only it doesn't have a storyline, the colors are so dull. The symbolic image is kinda boring, or maybe no meaning at all. Yawn...NEXT!!!!

MPV Review : Se7en Better Together

Se7en is considered as a veteran in todays Kpop but I have to admit that it never struck me to listen to his song.. so that explain I delayed it. Purposely write this post today because it's 7th for pun intended. Though not coincidentally, I wrote this post at 7.21PM..gee that reminds me, 2NE1 is making a comeback too. Maybe this review would be good then. (Update: I just check my list..apparently this post is 198th post...so close!)

Heavy bass, the atrocious auto-tune and weird special effect sound...OMG my ears are bleeding from all this technology sounds! From the intro, verse to the chorus..everything sound distinctly different. When it mesh up, I sort of like it.  There are some part I just mute it. Se7en is known as a great performer, I'm sure his fans are rather disappointed with the auto-tune. No one needs it, I rather hear American Idol reject voice than this auto-tune voice.

You don't go expecting any less than perfect from Se7en and this performance solidify the statement. His movement is smooth like liquid and his expression is good. The performance is flawless.

Why...? Does it mean that having auto-tune in the song, the MV must have blinding neon lights? It's a trend I've observe that I thought it's just a coincidence. I dislike a MV without storyline. No matter how good you are in dance, I prefer at least a short storyline. Save it on your performance, it can create more excitement. The only thing that I like in this video is his expression, That's all.

MPV Review : Trax Oh! My Goddness

Trax is back with a new song!! It seem that kpop band are getting more popularity these days with CN Blue and also F.T.Island coming back. While I'm not a band lover type but it's interesting to see musician get recognize instead of being behind the scene.

Their previous single was good, but this is GREAT! It's super catchy at first listen..as soon it stop..I was like "finish already? repeat!!" I love the composition of this song. It's slow and fast at the right place that creates a harmonious tune. The English is more apparent here, which I really appreciate because I can't really notice on Let you go. I'm only -1 because of the auto-tune, this song is fine without it.

Since they are of SM Entertainment I was hoping that there will be interaction with BoA or SHINee however I just remembered that there's SM Town Live Concert in LA..(lucky LA people) It seem wrong that Trax didn't go LA, maybe it's good so SM could concentrate on them! It's like SM don't want fans to forget about SM artist by keeping at least one artist active..wait, then again.. I saw LA fancams that Trax was there...early recordings? Anyway.. the performance was good though Jay eyes are creepy..MUAHAHA

MPV Review : Dalmation Round 1

To start after a break is probably the hardest thing to do when blogging.. I decided to just blog whatever that comes into mind instead of going in order because I suppose to write Se7en review first but I'm just too busy..I will, maybe tomorrow do a review on it.

I caught Dalmation performing on Music Bank last week...so yeah, here it goes!

For you non-dog lovers, Dalmation is a dog breed. Remember the Disney movie? Okay so what makes dog related names cool? At first I totally think it's ridiculous and funny, then when I really think of it...hey this is like Snoop Dog and Bow Wow. Another information that made me say "oh okay.." is Dalmation is under MC Mong company! So yeah, you could trust MC Mong to come up with an animal name! LOL The song is funny at first listen and still is. Staying true to their name, this song contains "Bow Wow" and dog sounds! Since it's MC Mong group, the song feels like MC Mong songs.

Level of Likeness : 4/10 (8/10 without the dog related tune)

Performance



MC Mong is a fashionista so his protege should be too! I'm sure the outfits are custom made..correct me if I'm wrong because I don't really care about fashion. Anyway the stage looks fun and lively. I'm hope this doesn't sound bad but this is actually hilarious! I hope this promotion will get people buzzing about how different them from the usual idol group. I'm hoping too that this concept won't continue! It's adorable but I'm sure the members do feel ridicule with all the bow wow.

MPV Review : BoA Hurricane Venus

The title is rather interesting, who would have thought of "Hurricane Venus"? Before listening to the song, I would interpret it as something that describe her persona. I'm glad she didn't promote Game, I really don't like the song.

After being disappointed with Game, I was surprised that I liked this, it has auto-tune and heavy bass. Probably it's because the combination works? The hook in the chorus is also surprisingly catchy. The lyrics is rather odd but I don't mind it much.

It's with Dangerous performance. I wouldn't expect any less from someone called "The Kpop Queen" and BoA deliver it with such excellence! This is the result of 10 years people! Terrific dancer and flawless vocals, (btw, you should really check out the MR removed version) this Kpop at it's best. Welcome back to Korea BoA!

For BoA is famous for her dance moves, it is a necessary for her to have dancing in her videos. I love her outfit in promotion pictures but not so much on the video, some are just to weird for me. I think the CG effects are rather weak, because you know it's fake. The purpose of having effect is to WOW the audience not to show weakness. I'll stick at looking her performance then.

I LOVE the song. I'm really surprised the fact I like it.. I was expecting to feeling so-so about because the title and the group name is rather so-so.. but I like the song from first listen..I just want to put this on repeat! The singer in the beginning sound freakish-ly like JangMoon! OMG!! You know how much I love JangMoon's voice! Will be searching for THE voice! 6 members..this is hard.

Everybody BakSu! That's clap in Korean..:D I think I just fell in love with a new group! it's like discovering SuJu and Beast! Love the choreography, it's so stylist and fun to look at..the clap part was good, i thought they would do the good ole clap but they modify it.. I love the little break in the middle. It's like the climax of the song..you wondered..is it over already? then they resume again!

I've been going through some sites..(to research for their entertainment company) and mostly compares them to 2PM and other existing idols..I must be weird. I don't see any resemblance at all. I like them as it is, nothing about them reminds me of certain group..maybe I do love them already! Lizzy is IN!! She's beautiful in this and she deserved this..got to have more exposure! Super cool with the airplanes..I doubt it's real but still mad cool. The MV doesn't have that little break though..huhu my favorite part.

Another newbie, Sistar is a female group consist of 4 members. I don't have much thought about this group because frankly I'm not a huge fan of female idol.

The song is fun to listen and dance to. It's a little cutesy here and there but it's bearable. I don't love this song but I don't hate it.

I like it when they put names on MV especially if you're a debut. It makes it easier for fans to learn the names. I don't believe that they're below 5 feet..because I'm over it and they looked taller than me. Not much storyline but I like the video concept. It's F4 Kim Joon's group..so I was interested in their comebacks. If I'm not mistaken, one left for military service and one new addition..but I didn't know they add another one!

Auto-tune festival! Sounds exciting? NOT. Kpop didn't have this much of auto-tune when I first like it..somehow these days Kpop=auto-tune. Just cut out the auto-tune, I might like song. I don't hate it..just it's something I won't listen again.

I like the eye expression, looks very intense. The flag props is super cool, don't mind me..I always like props in performance. Powerful dance suits the theme of the songs. Despite not loving the song, I like the performance.

The song is catchy, I was expecting to hate it..not because of my anti-JYP (umm..that's weird coming from someone who claims to hate anti, oh well maybe I hate myself) because I didn't like what I saw from the promotional pictures. Maybe because I wasn't expecting much, I like the song.

Obviously the pink hair stood out. I can't help but to stare at her, wondering if it's real hair or wig. Imagine the hours to get that hair! The performance is okay for a debut.. I love the camera works, the stage look good.

I don't know if it's because of Lady Gaga or not..why are there more girls not wearing pants? It's downright ugly, Lady Gaga or not. Fashion doesn't meant you have to wear less cloth, it's about looking good! The MV is boring, but I get that they want to be known as good dancers.

Yeah! the MV is finally released! As you know I'm a huge fan of SuJu..do expect a biased review!

This kind of song is my favorite..it's like Miracle with lots of sound editing! Yeah, not a big fan of unrealistic sound but it's SuJu..anything goes. I love the cheerful tone of the song, it's good fresh feeling from all the dark concept 1st half of 2010.

Performance



This is all I need to cheer up again. The perfect song for the summer, because we need some good vibe song and this is so cheerful! I love they are wearing casual yet still smart. The dance movement is cute and I would love to see more bromance on this performance. It's just so good to see everyone smiling!

What do I feel...I don't know, I'm just SCREAMING!! OMGOSH..this is just too cute and adorable! Smiling faces through out the video is the perfect remedy to chase away the blues. HyukJae,I mean EunHyukie looking hawt for us! He definitely wants to show off his hard work! Good Job! I can't help but thinking ShinDong's part is meant for his GF..:( Yesung is the STAR..I think he got more screen time this time! WAIT, I just realize KyuHyun and SiWon isn't in the dance shoot...WHY?

LeeTeuk : The leader doesn't show off his abs this time and I'm glad he's back to Angelic Teukie!! It suits best with him..

HeeChul : Looking good with platinum blonde hair! HeeChul never fail to impress me with his sense of style. Staying true to himself, got to love his genuinely HeeChul smirk and expression!

YeSung : Oooh, who's getting more screen time and lines this time? YeSung definitely shines through the whole song, performance and MV. I know I can only always trust him with having good hair!

ShinDong : This guy keep on breaking my heart..I already knew he have someone in his life, so I know the song is directly toward his GF..huhu, Thank Goodness you shaved!

SungMin : Loved the hair in Bonamana but I like this one better as the previous hairstyle keep on covering his smiling eyes! He still needs to get more lines.

EunHyuk : DA BODY. DA RAPPER. DA DANCER. DA BEST. Need I say more? DAEBAK!

DongHae : Cute, part two of his rose performance. Always adorable with his perfect smile. Perfect boy as usual!

SiWon : A gentleman that always look good no matter what he do..He's really talented, I'm sure he can go far by himself so I'm really glad he sticks to SuJu!

RyeoWook : Wookie! Gosh, isn't he's getting cuter by day? He used to be one of the least favorite member of mine but he's improvement is so admirable! Note, all SuJu are my favorite.

KyuHyun : Magnae looking smooth, is this part 2 from Seoul song? :D Glad his fine..Don't get sick again!

MPV Review : Code-V Addiction

Back in 2007, I was in form 5...obsessing with SuJu,Big Bang and DBSK. In the same year, Bless debuted. Now they're back with a cooler name and I have a feeling they are here to stay!

Music



It sound like Super Junior's Neorago in the intro..I'm not pointing fingers here..I love having sense of familiarity in new song. It's a dance number but you could still hear beautiful voices behind the heavy rhythm. This song is good, from the beginning to the end..I love the whole arrangements.

Performance



Yeah..back to the good ole 5 member group! Everyone have a distinct facial look, this should be easy to memorize. The performance is a little bit boring for me..I find it a little messy in the choreography but there's no doubt their vocals are good. The group is a little old for the title "idol" but Leeteuk is one, it's not impossible.

LOL..I didn't realise the "Bless is back" nice touch there! The overall concept is a bit puzzle for me..I don't get the connection of the objects. I think it might be symbolic, it's more towards poison rather than sense of addiction. There's some cool special effects and I love the hue of the B&W.
