Farewell Aheeyah :(

Every time I change the layout of my blog, I made sure I include links because it's important to me to give some respect to these wonderful sites that help me in my Kpop needs. Sadly one of the links on "AmazingLinkz", Aheeyah is closing down.

What?!!!

I was searching for g.o.d. Lies lyrics, and where would I go? It's no other than Aheeyah.com! Sadly I was greeted by a video from the webmaster saying the site is closing down. I normally passed on vlogs, but I click on the button anyway because I need to know the reason. Sigh heavily as I finished the video, I knew I understand why but I just can't help feeling sad. I know to maintain a website isn't easy and it requires money. For those who are ignorant, when they asked for donation..please don't go harsh on them, do you think it's easy for them to ask? I've been to sites that I wish I could donate and such but it's impossible for me at the moment.

I'm really sad that Aheeyah will be gone. I even left a wall post on the webmaster FB page, which normally I don't do. I wanted the site to be forever but that's like selfish of me to even think about it since it's all hard work by someone who doesn't get paid.

I could never think of Lyrics and not think Aheeyah too. When I first started to research more about Korean, I learned the basic from the site. I could spend hours of time in the site because the site has so many lyrics that I loved. I realize that over the recent years, the post has been reduced but that doesn't stop me from loving the site because it's where I started.

When the site eventually closes down, the links stays because I just want to give a tribute to such awesome site. I will miss Aheeyah. ;(

Another reason

Thanks to my friend, Pasira for these links. 1 2

Just few days ago I posted why I don't want Kpop to be famous and now, I have another reason. If you don't understand Malay, basically it's about how Kpop isn't seen in the good light in the so called professional media. The other one is about how Kpop is influencing the entertainment industry here like how it's happening in Thailand or Cambodia..you know the horrendous cover we saw on YouTube? but this is sort of different but following the Kpop style. It's written by a Kpop fan, so don't bash in the comments. She's just reporting!

Imitation is a form of flattery but I look at those pictures and you can't turn Malaysian to Korean, that's just too obsess! I just think bringing Kpop flavor in this country does not work. It's weird and awkward! Kpop stars go through rigorous training and put so much risk in their decision. If you really love Kpop, go to Korea la! I always wanted a Malaysian to be in the next idol group, and that's fine because it's by Korean standard. Korean Entertainment company knows what they want and they already get the formulas right. If you never got into the Korean scene, how are you going to copy it right?

I don't want this so called Malaysian version of Kpop turns Kpop in a bad light in this country! Why ruin something, that Kpop idols go through blood, sweat and pain? This is not the way to thank Kpop!

What a false report done by the media, and a foolish one indeed. As much as a big fan I am of Kpop, I realize there's flaws in it. Let's face it, no one is perfect. The writer should be objective and include some good points, but it's all flat out saying negative stuff that is over exaggerated!

I would hate it if one of my family members read the article and give me a hearing. I may called myself obsess with Kpop but I know my boundaries. I would love to go to Korea someday but I would never want to live there because Malaysia is my home. I'm comfortable where I'm from and never had I though of living somewhere else. I would hate if someone says I lupa daratan (uumm..how to translate this, it's like forgetting where you come from). If any, it's Malaysian fault. We're taught to live to 1Malaysia spirit, to called ourselves Malaysian as opposed to say you're Chinese/Malay/etc.. I hate that, I really want to be proud and say I'm a Sino-Kadazan. I love my culture and I wished I was more like one.

Opps, I'm getting out of topic. Don't say bad stuff about entertainment, because it's entertainment. Don't think too much about it because why make something fun into something boring?

Kpop Forever!!!

I don't want Kpop to be famous

I feel like I have write this before but heck, I don't care searching back my past archive because I'm talking about the present. I am waiting the day Hallyu wave to be over and howironic it is considering my name is HallyuSurfer.

Now this isn't a laughing matter, I dread the word Japan.. I don't like the idea of my favorite idols going to Japan because I don't like Jpop. Argument may start with their song is merely a translated version of their Kpop song and if they release in Japanese, a Korean version will be released as well. I don't hate Japanese, (language) it's just..I'm already struggling with Korean and now I have to learn Japanese too?

While Hallyu brings the idols closer to our shores..but damn it. I will never have the chance of meeting them because they only go to Kuala Lumpur, I need a freaking airplane ticket to  get there! Unable to attend means I get jealous. I wish they never come in the first place! I had a hard time watching videos of them in Malaysia.. It especially kills me when a non kpop fan got to go the concert and later blog badly about it.

I fear one day that when I eventually could go to Korea, my favorite idols will be in other country busy promoting. My travel itieneray only consist of going to KBS,MBC, SBS, SM, or YG building. If I can't meet at least one of my favorite idols, that would be a nightmare!

The most annoying thing is the increase of so called Kpop fans. Don't say Kpop fans are different. We may have different opinions but we share the same value. The common rule is to never bash. I hate reading newbie comments "gay" or "ugly". They never get how to use it well. In case you newbies are reading this, to use these words, be creative. For example "It's so ugly, only Mr.A can pull it of" or "I want Mr.B to be gay, he's so pretty!".

At first it's awesome, now I just feel blaah. I don't enjoy Kpop being everywhere I go. It's on TV, radio and even when I'm out. Shops will be blasting 2009 Kpop...I might smash that radio if it's Nobody!

I know I'm bitter about this whole Hallyu thing, I am part of this Hallyu movement. If Kpop never showed on MTV back in 2005/6, my brother would never introduce me to Super Junior, if Kpop wasn't big enough, we wouldn't have much eng subbed videos! KBS World and SBS One probably would never be on astro channel listing channel! It's just a personal issue.. :P

New found favorites!

Dalmatian

Infinite

I finally have learned their names! I knew eventually I would learn their names, so I'll do the same for this year debut. There's a lot of debut again this year! B1A4, x-5, Dal Shabet, A Pink...urgh. Never mind, someday I'll make time to learn their names. I think I pretty much already learn the names of 2010 male idols...I hope I didn't missed any group. My memory sometimes bewildered me because I can't differentiate which year they debuted anymore! It's rather surprising to know CN Blue debuted in 2010 but achieving so much success that could challenge their sunbaenims!

I started learning Dalmatian member names because I really like "The man Opposed" song and I already know Daniel from his collaboration with Yoseob so learning names wasn't hard. At times I got confuse with Jisu and Yeongwon but blue haired Yeongwon definitely helped! Today (250411) Dari is enlisted for military. It's kind of the wrong timing but it's a responsibility of Korean men so good for him! The leader of the group is surprising in many ways. He is 10 years older than the maknae! Daniel/Drama was born on 1991, which means Inati is born on 1981! He is older than Leeteuk!!! Day Day, if I'm not mistaken is the same age as Leeteuk.

Poor Maknae, Hyung accidentally hit!

As for Infinite, remember the Must Watch Video post I did last week? I stumble upon the video through their site and I got hooked at the song! Nothing's Over is my favorite song of the recent release and I've been playing non stop. I also watch a couple videos and love the goofiness of the group!

I'm not good with "hy" "w" Korean pronounciation so Dongwoo and Woohyun names is so hard for me to pronounce! I already had a hard time pronouncing Wooyoung's name..so the name part stuck in my mind. I love the three Sung brothers. My favorite is Leader SungKyu, haha I can't stop thinking of Sunny (real name SunKyu) whenever I see him. I initially thought WooHyun is the leader because he looked like one but as I see more of Infinite shows, Sungkyu is a good leader choice. Maknae SungJong which is like the 2nd Jokwon can really dance girl group songs! Poor Choding (in BM, budak2) SungYeol never got enough attention but don't worry, he is the main character in Nothing's Over. The face of the group L, reminds me of JaeJoong, he has that cold hearted man vibe and you might remember him in Epik High's Run MV. Don't let the name deceive you, but his real name is Myung Soo! I love HoYa's name. It's epic, HOYA!!!! Actually it's his nickname, his real name is Howon. Korean often add "Ah", "ee" or "ya" as affectionate nickname..like Yoseob~ie, Juri~ah or KangHo~ya...get it?

Untouchable update

If you have been reading this blog long enough, you would know that I am a big fan of Untouchable. They're going to enlist for military by the end of this year and my heart sank. I'm always excited for their new release and so this would mean 2 years of no new song.

The good news is that Untouchable duo will be enlisting on the same day! Yeah, I thought it's a nice way to go military, with your good friend and I'm just so happy that it also mean that they will be leaving military together! Less time waiting for them to be back together!

TS Entertainment seems like a cool company, the CEO always give this duo a complete trust on their music and I really appreciate it. Before they enlist for military, Untouchable will be releasing one last single! One only? I really hope it's with HwaYoung who is darn amazing with Tell Me Why, Back Again and so many other songs. It'd be nice if they collaborate with TSE upcoming boyband (Bang Yong Guk's group) or Secret! Gosh, all this talk is making me sad... Kajimayo Untouchable!

Impact!

I guess my prayers had been answered because according to a rumor, Byun Jang Moon of the former A'ST1 member will be re-debuting later this year with a four membered group called "Impact".

"2nd guy from left"

The rumor broke out during ZE:A's showcase, Impact was introduced and is said to be following a similar style with JYP's 2AM. Oh my gosh, this is perfect. More ballads for me to hear that crisp clear voice of JangMoon. Although I wished he went solo. Blaah better than nothing.

The group is under Star Empire Entertainment which is the same agency of ZE:A, Nine Muses (or 10..) and Jewelry. So that explain why he's on ZE:A's Here I am MV!!! Let's hope this group is real and will get success. I know I will be waiting. BYUN JANG MOON baby!

If you're wondering which is his voice, the picture is matching their voice. His voice is the squeaky lovely voice.."Ajik" part.. :D

The MOST shocking news EVER

UPDATE : [RUMORS] #1 Jung Woo Sung said that he will break up with Lee Ji Ah is the divorce is true #2  They probably already divorced? Seo TaiJi's side says 2006 and Lee Ji Ah side says 2009..this is seriously wtf. #3 Unlike the media reported, the couple has no kids.

The news of Seo TaiJi and Lee Ji Ah as a married couple is mind blowing shocking statement. Here's my list of shocking news of the day.

#1 The marriage is kept for 14 years!

I would have thought there wouldn't be any secret marriage as Korean netizen often shown us how incredibly efficient on getting information. Lee Young Ae secret marriage should have prompt them to search on more secret marriage, but whoops this big secret wasn't revealed by them.

#2 It's freaking Seo TaiJi

Often referred as the father of Kpop or Legendary, this guy may not appear much on TV but Kpop idols of today can't stop talking about his idol days. He is kind of the guy you expect to not get married at the early age.

#3 It's Lee Ji Ah

This is the girl who is rumored to be dating Jung Woo Sung and Jung Woo Sung has confirmed that he is dating someone. Okay, you might read all over the news that Jung Woo Sung confirms that he is dating Lee Ji Ah but I saw the clip in Entertainment Weekly, and I don't think he ever mention Lee Ji Ah's name. Although I just read that Jung Woo Sung was with Lee Ji Ah when the news broke out.

#4 They have 2 children

It's only natural that they have children, 14 years of marriage but no children? Gosh, have you not seen Korean mother in laws on TV? It's shocking because it's Seo TaiJi's children.

#5 Lee Ji Ah's real age revealed

According to her official profile, it is listed that she was born on 1981 making her only 16 at the time of marriage on 1997. However it was revealed she was actually born on 1977 but that doesn't make it any less shocking, I'm 20...I'm not thinking of marriage yet and many people in Korea today prefers to marry at the age of 30 or more.

#6 Will Lee Ji Ah be going to jail?

While no one talks about this, adultery is a serious crime in Korea that may make offenders head to prison. If Jung Woo Sung is in fact dating Lee Ji Ah, Seo TaiJi may press charges against Lee Ji Ah.

#7 We might never know this

If it wasn't for Lee Ji Ah requesting for a divorce or this settle in private manner, we will never know about this at all.

#8 They're getting divorce

Sadly we only know this today but they're heading for divorce apparently because Lee Ji Ah wants to be with Jung Woo Sung.

Another thing is I remembered reading an article last year when news of Yang Hyun Suk getting married and there was sort of a promise thingie that they wouldn't get married article. Which also means that YG and Lee Juno had no idea of this marriage too? Let me see if I could search that article for you...oh wait, no I remembered it wrongly. Here's the quote (credits to AllKPop)

I once made a pact with Seotaiji, “Let’s not have wedding ceremonies even if we get married in future.”
Though there are no plans to get married this year, it’s still a promise between men.
Even if we do get married in future, we have no plans for a public wedding.

                                                                                                                                 - Yang Hyun Suk

Theories on how this can be kept as a secret

1. They were married overseas and only met overseas

In an article I read, it is said that Lee Ji Ah and Seo TaiJi only meet up in US or in Japan.

2. Lee Ji Ah isn't the real name

Her real name is apparently Kim Sang Eun, and when she entered her company she was Kim Ji Ah and officially she is known as Lee Ji Ah. With the names changes, I believe makes information harder to search.

3. She doesn't have a pre-debut picture and no picture with friends

Way damn mysterious. She studied in US but come on, I've seen NS Yoon Ji's picture to Kim Ki Bum's picture while they studied in US.

My prediction of the outcome

There will be more secrets being revealed and I'm sure this isn't an easy battle. Jung Woo Sung reportedly mentioned has no clue that she is married and has children. Gosh, I don't know how would he feel. It's horrible.

Okay, since Lee Ji Ah speaks fluent English and in case she might read this...I just want to add that I am not entirely sure that these information is true but I posted it anyway because it's everywhere. I got most of the information from Twitter. I don't think it's bad that they keep this BIG secret, but it's just sad it ended this way. I never like hearing divorce stories and I felt sorry for Jung Woo Sung. It's hard enough to revealed your in a relationship but to discover that your partner is actually married is not cool.

Korean Drama is often extreme in terms of plot formation especially daily drama but this is like blockbuster movie, wow..I might get headache with all this drama. Let the news roll!

Must watch video : Kpop Music Mondays by Simon and Martina

Oh Monday, how we hate it. Actually any other days (except Sundays) seems pretty the same because I'm on a break but I know the feeling of Monday mornings. It's horrible.

But worries over, because there's something new to look forward on Monday and that's eatyourkimchi.com Kpop Music Mondays! I found their video by surprise because I was looking for Dalmatian eng sub shows (which reminds me I haven't watch it yet) and the first video on the list of search was their review!

I clicked on the video because it's not everyday you see a Caucasian talking about Korean culture..it's interesting yo~! So I got hooked, and watch their entire episode of Kpop Music Mondays!

It's interesting to see a foreigner take on Kpop video because I'm really like the typical Kpop fan, it's hard to react beyond squealing and clapping. LOL. The couple, Simon and Martina lives in Bucheon, Korea but you don't get the sense of a typical Kpop fan reaction. (except Big Bang because Martina is a huge V.I.P.)

Their blog is equally interesting, because I always like reading blogs as opposed to watching Vlogs. You can watch videos and read more information on Eat Your Kimchi

New UKiss

"New" because it is...I mean to not confuse you right? I think it's better if they debuted with a new name. Just in case you have not heard/read... Xander and KiBum left the group and insert AJ and Hoon. For more details, just google it because that's not what I blogging about.

Back in 2008, I was one of the very few international fan of U-Kiss. I can say like it is because back in 2008 not only international fan is less but also U-Kiss isn't very popular. Many fans even thought they debuted in 2009 with Man Man Ha Ni but nope, they debuted in 2008 with Not Young. I also know that U-Kiss already won Rookie awards back in 2008 but not much knew in 2009 because they're voting them for Best New Artist as well in 2009.

However the constant change  made me like them less and lesser. Lots of people didn't like "Not Young" and thought "I Like you" was funny. I was a fan at both with good knowledge of their backgrounds and such...but when they comeback with KiSeop with Man Man Ha Ni, I just got disappointed.

I was disappointed because U-Kiss was a different kind of idol and end up being the same. From Man Man Ha Ni onwards, I didn't like any of their songs. However the news of KiBum and Xander left the group made me sad because I was a fan. When I was a U-Kiss fan, I love the whole group members.

I have nothing against Hoon but bring AJ in was too much. AJ is the guy who talks bad about KiKwang back when KiKwang was promoting as AJ. I didn't like the way AJ responded so this guy never got good impression with me.

0330 is a good song but how much does a song can win me back to be a fan again? It's just not right.

Big Bang VS Music Bank

Disclaimer : I love Big Bang and Music Bank. I just have opinions to voice out. Take it or leave it, because I'm not an anti and you shouldn't be taking it too seriously.

The problem lies with YG Entertainment, their marketing strategy is too ridiculous for Korean scene. Back when 2NE1 debut, YGE made the girls perform once a week which I think is arrogant. What kind of excuse is "to enhance performance quality" 2NE1 should have work just as hard as other rookies! YGE also made 2NE1 comeback with 3 songs and made them perform 3 full performance which unheard of with any veteran Kpop idols especially 1 year old idols!

In 2010, I got fed up reading articles that Big Bang was going to make a comeback but nothing happen. Instead Seungri made a comeback and GD&T.O.P made a debut. V.I.P. probably like that but I don't, I felt cheated.

In fact I was surprised Big Bang made a comeback this year, after all there was a rumor regarding Big Bang members were not in good terms! When KBS didn't let Big Bang have their way, I completely understand why.

1. NO YGE perform on KBS Music Festival in 2010.

YGE refuse to let their artist perform because of the "award" thingie which come on, validate the fact they only want to come if they win. Which YGE assume SNSD is taking the prize.

2. YGE requested 3 performance and interview

Probably because TVXQ had almost 10 mins time on MB, YGE wanted the same treatment because Big Bang is a huge idol as well. Where the humbleness? Okay fine, Big Bang does deserve the same treatment but I'm pretty sure SME inform MB PD in advance. YGE is a master in delayed comeback. SME artiste doesn't delay a comeback unless something really bad happen.

I can't find any reason to support YGE. Why did they pulled out with just a day before the performance? WHY? Without any explanation, I am free to say that YGE is arrogant. Just because your artiste isn't going to win the awards doesn't make sense.

Fans who complain Big Bang MB comeback stage was poorly done, are you thinking or not?YGE said yes at the last minute, surely the stage isn't going to be stellar! And Music Bank doesn't need Big Bang, they have the kbsworld. :P

Big Bang is not at fault, YGE is. YGE needs to be humble for once.

Koreamie~!

Hello! It's end of May and this my first post of the year. *nervous laugh It's okay..because nobody read this blog right? haha. ...
