HallyuSurfer Total Random Awards

2013 is such an eventFULL year that this post took me days to do proper research. I mean, this is MY award, shouldn't it be simple? There's just too many things to talk about. Some other categories are in their own post.

Most Shocking News Award
Kim Tae Hee and Rain Couple
Se7en massage room scandal
Go Young Wook Scandal
Propofol usage scandal
Gambling scandal
Choiza and Sulli scandal
Ailee nude photo leaked
Park Si Hoo scandal
Son Ho young attempts suicide

Maybe I will do a special post only for Couple news complilation because it's too many to put it on this list. Can I just post every headlines? This year was a good year for gossips. So many things to talk about. Gambling scandal is something I don't think is a big deal but it is illegal in Korea. It affects a number of people in the industry, didn't they learn from Shin Jung Hwan???  With the news of Kim Tae Hee and Rain couple broke out, it spurs more scandal as Rain was still in military. Add Se7en and Sangchu to the mix, celeb soliders are axed. Propofol usage scandal affect celebs I don't really follow but the amount of usage is so high! I hope the celebs reflect on their mistake. For me, the most shocking is Choiza and Sulli scandal, it was so shocking.. That day had 2 other relationship article but everyone was talking about them. The pictures were circulating everywhere.

Best Drama
School 2013
My Daughter Seoyoung
Secret
I can hear your Voice
Suspicious housekeeper

I watch even less drama this year. I got really busy this year and no time for Kdrama marathon. I'm  a Kpop fan, it's hard enough to keep up with comebacks...so yeah, Kdrama got neglected. Overall, it was pretty forgettable. I meant the one I watched. Heirs is very popular but the storyline is too ridiculous, it might kill my brain. I can't handle EunSang tears. I stop early and supported Secret instead. For me, the surprise of the year is definitely Secret, I wanted to avoid this drama but i felt engaged towards Jisung, Hwang Jung Eum and Bae Soo Bin. I want Hwang Jung Eum to win Daesang please! I also loved My Daughter Seoyoung, such a nice drama that made me reflect a lot. If Lee Bo Young won daesang, I would have no problem. Let there be co winners! If somebody else won...would have been disappointed.

Best Gag corner on Gag Concert
Dugeun dugeun ( Badum badum)
Nom nom nom (Three Friends)
The king of ratings
Real Dictionary

A lot of my faves got axed. Huhu! I'm especially sad of Real Dictionary because I enjoyed learning Korean culture through it. I like clever gag corner! I used to like Why we don't need man, but it's predictable. Yellow sea also become boring over time, I think they should alternate Hong Sun Mok with other gagmen. My absolute favorite is King of Ratings! I enjoyed it so much, and pretty sure anyone who loves Kdrama can laugh along to it. Hyo In and Munjae couple in Dugeun Dugeun is so sweet, I can't wait for these two babo to date already!

Best choreography
B.A.P. - One Shot
SHINee - Dream Girl, Everybody
EXO - Wolf, Growl
SNSD - I got a boy
Nuest - Yobeoseoyo
Crayon pop - Bba bba Bba

For someone who can't dance, I'm sure hard to please! I've seen a lot of impressive dance  choreography, it really takes wow factor to make me impress. I dislike overly sexy dance so none of them in this list. Looking at you Trouble Maker and After School! Yes, the song is ridiculous but Bba Bba Bba choreography is cute!! There's so many key pointers for the dance, it's just fun to see the dance. I think SM choreography always top, I love all of their choreography this year.

Top 10 Kpop Loves
10. Sistar (down 3)
9. B.A.P (down 5)
8. SNSD (up 1)
7. Untouchable (up 3)
6. Verbal Jint (same)
5. San.E (NEW)
4. EXO (NEW)
3. Bumkey (NEW)
2. Super Junior (Same)
1. Phantom (same)

Not on the list this year are SHINee, Secret and Beast. I am surprised that EXO is no where on the list last year. I guess because 12 is better than 6? I must be 멍 at the time of writing because Untouchable was on list. They were in military! My boys are back, and I am waiting for moree good music from them! I didn't know how much I love San.e, but I do love all of his release this year, hit after hit and of course, Break up Dinner was my favorite track of the year!  Another new entry, Bumkey! Eversince I got to know his music, I just fell in love with his voice. He has a great music sensibility, the way he plays with his voice is just perfect. I have yet to find track by him that I didn't like. SuJu is inactive right now, focusing more on Japan release (I don't support Japanese promotion..ain't got time for that!) and individual activities but I am bias. Despite being disappointed with New Era, Phantom is still top on my list for 3 awesome sweet song, Like Cho Yong Pil, Come as you are and I already know. I just going to forget about New Era. Erase from data.

Happy New Year 2014!

The Suspicious Housekeeper

I have mixed feelings about this drama. I feel I should enjoy this drama a little more because it's different from the usual Kdrama but it just felt a little flat.

There are bits of parts that I love, but it comes in tiny details. I love how the second son deals with bullies. It's very admirable to watch his story. I wish the mother didn't commit suicide, I could understand parts of it but it's a really difficult topic that needs more attention than just come in a short conclusion. The side story for the father's affair is just annoying. I skipped all of it. The first son's story could have ben elaborated more, I think he has an interesting character to expand more.

The push and pull on whether Bokneo is going to be the mother or not is annoying. I particularly do not enjoy the fact the kids wanted Bokneo as their mother. I understand that they love her but their mother just died. It feels like it escalated too quickly for them to accept Bokneo to be their mother. I had maids all the years of growing up and never once I thought any of them as a parent replacement. The fact they never call them mother makes me wonder even more. The very first step of accepting is calling her mother and they just skip that part.

Seo Ji Hoon is good looking but the whole plot seems so funny. I don't think the writer really know what to do with the whole mystery behind Bokneo story. I find the police detective even more ridiculous. Don't use logic on this because it hurts mine.

In all I enjoy bits of it and seems a good drama to past time.

Wtf Star Empire????

I was browsing through my past post and OMG. Impact not yet debut and it's like 2 weeks left in 2013!

Apparently the name also changed to SoReal. I don't care what name you give, just let my Jangmoon debut already! *flips table

I never waited this long for someone to debut. Okay maybe YG girl group. Lol. BUT you got me excited for too long for nothing Star Empire!!!! Arghhh. I feel like the only person in the world who wants Jangmoon to be active in music this badly. If not...he would have been active already. Gosh. How long do I have to wait?

HallyuSurfer Top Kpop of 2013

I know a lot of Kpop idols and Korean hip hop but it's seriously hard to take time to listen all of them. I need that extra motivation to try listen to new stuff because if I like a song, I want to hear only it until I'm sick of it. I did like a lot of songs this year that isn't on the list because this is TOP choice, not list all likes.

Here is my list in random order

BoA - Disturbance
Dream Girl - SHINee
Symptom - SHINee
Trap - Henry feat Taemin & KyuHyun
Goodbye Summer - f(Krystal,Luna, Amber) feat D.O
Growl - EXO
Baby Don't Cry - EXO

My favorite track from SM is Goodbye Summer. I love D.O.'s voice in the song and I thought the composition is sweet. Baby Don't Cry is also a favorite, been obsessing with the song since I got the taste of it from their showcase and the full version was perfect. I adored Chanyeol's rap part in the song!

If it ain't Love - Verbal Jint feat Ailee
Walking in the Rain - Verbal Jint feat Bumkey
Like Cho Yong Pil - Phantom
I already Know - Phantom
Dutch Pay - Phantom
Did not say anything..- BNR feat Ann
Shaken - BNR feat Sanchez
Attraction - Bumkey feat Dynamic Duo
What you want - Kanto feat Sungkyu
Where did you sleep? - San.E feat Verbal Jint & Swings
Breakup Dinner - San.E fear Sanchez

I'm having a hard time to select favorites....BNM definitely step it up this year! I think my favorite is Bumkey's Attraction BUT with San.E version!  Dynamic Duo version is good but I prefer San.E rap. The song is just my style, it's perfect! I'm a Phantomism, I'd put the whole Phantom Theory mini album on the list but heh..that's too bias. I didn't like Come as you are and New Era as much. The latter, I'm trying hard to forget! Breakup Dinner will be the song I will remember for a long time along with Like Cho Yong Pil.

Call Me - Untouchable feat Andrew Choi
Vain - Untouchable feat Koonta
False Hope - Song Ji Eun

I didn't like any B.A.P. song this year so none of them. I love my Untouchable boys, so definitely on the list. I love their album too! I would blog about it someday. I wished Secret stop singing cutesy or sexy concept. I just want something genuine from them like Song ji Eun solo work.

Black - G-Dragon
Who you - G-Dragon
Do You Love Me? - 2NE1

Taeyang is back but Ringa Linga isn't my style. Seungri's solo did nothing for me. I'm not into weird stuff. I mean anything too abstract isn't my thing. Which is why the list is so short. I'd be excited for Akdong Musician and Winner next.

How are you - Geeks
Give it to me - Sistar
You don't know love - K.Will
Bounce - Cho Yong Pil
Love is - Lim Jung Hee feat Baechigi
Because you're here - Supreme Team feat Crush
Two Melodies - Zion.T feat Crush
Love Me - Seo In Young feat Gaeko
Day By Day - MYNAME feat D.O.
I am Sorry - Lee Jung
Turtle - Davichi
Be Warmed - Davichi feat Verbal Jint
Because of Tears - Ailee

I did like Wash away by Geeks but I prefer the fun side of Geeks. How are you is such a fun song and the lyrics are great! I don't particularly like K.Will's voice, I usually dislike deep voice but I enjoyed his latest single a lot! The song has a meaning that I could relate to and I enjoyed the composition. E-sens left Amoeba Culture so I wasn't sure if the song was released this year.. Wow things happen quickly! It's a shame that they didn't resolve the problem better. I was starting to like the dynamic of Supreme Team. I guess it's pretty obvious I love male singers or rappers better. The lack of female on the list is so depressing. Whatever happen to female power?

My thoughts on Secret Plastic Surgery

Plastic surgery is always a popular topic, but usually I don't blog about it because my main passion lies in the personality and music..not appearance.

Initially my reaction towards plastic surgery is unfavorable. I couldn't comprehend why would anyone go through voluntary surgery. As time goes by, I accept the culture. I feel that it's not my body, why should I care so much. I think if anyone who does plastic surgery feels better for themselves, go for it. It's more important for you to be happy.

Looking at Secret performance of I Do I Do on Music Bank got me disappointed. Not only they return with another cutesy song but they looked totally different. Sunhwa and JiEun did look similar but I can barely recognize HyoSung and Zinger!

I really hope they're happy with the plastic surgery result but omg.. This is a group I know even before debut got me confused. "Who is this new group?" It was really bad. I'm a fan of Secret, I should be able to recognize them.

Here I am still hoping to see the potential of Secret to be revealed. Why can't we get something like Song Ji Eun solo works for Secret???

Mirae's Choice / Marry Him If You dare

Omg, this drama is definitely another BIG. It has so much potential to be great but grr, can somebody torture the scriptwriter for me? It was a torture to watch but I kept holding on for the cast!

I like open ending but this one sucked so bad. I mean, could you at least give us a solid love line? The push and pull thingie is just so annoying, honey, I love you girl but for the love of God.. Choose already!

I have read that more people rooting for Mirae and SeJoo but Yookyung is one fine lady, nobody would mind that they're together! I think just like BIG, Mirae Choice would have done better without the fantasy element.

KBS World is still showing, and I will continue to watch because Lee Dong Geun is handsome. Damn, please do another drama soon. You're so underused in this drama, too much Ajumma Mirae. Yonghwa should be forever second lead. Reminds me of the good ole You're Beautiful. Love the girls too!

Obviously my Eunhye is forever amazing, I thought no one else can rock that Ajumma perm as good as hers, so sad when she changed it. Han Chae Ah, girl.. You're gorgeous but erhh.. Bad drama for ya.

Variety Guide : 안녕하세요 Annyeonghaseyo Hello Counselor

Hello Counselor is the official English translation of the program, which is good since just "hello" is kind of weird. Hello Counselor is pretty self explainatory.

Each week, four guest all over Korea share their concern and let 140 audience member decide whether their concern is a valid concern. The most votes winner will get to win weekly prize. The limit of winning is 5 times. The MCs of the show is Shin Dong Yup, Lee Young Ja, Cult Twos' Kim Tae Gyun and Jeong Chan Woo. This show is an award winning show and all four MC won KBS award in 2012. This year Hello Counselor and Shin Dong Yup is awarded again on national level.

Along with the MC, celebrity guest of 4 or more comes in the discussion and participate in voting. The guest varies each week, singers and comedian are popular choice but actors and announcers guest too.

The program usually start off with introduction of celebrity guests and talking to the previous week winner. Titles of 4 concern is read and one of the MC will read the concern. Types of concern vary but the running gag is Shin Dong Yeop gets concern that is kind of 19+ rated and Lee Yeong Ja gets food related concern.

Cult Two Kim Tae Gyun and Jeong Chan Woo are famous comedian duo on radio so they are familar with story telling. Kim Tae Gyun is particularly famous for Okhui character, where he sounds like animated female.

This program offers a real insight on today's Korean culture, it is my must watch show for anyone who is interested in Korean culture. It's refreshing to see the general public of Korea, since Kpop idols are all so glitzy. I am sort of sad to say that Koreans in general are attractive too. Where are attractive Korean guys in my life?? Oh right, in Korea.

I'm loving San.E Break up Dinner featuring Sanchez of Phantom

Half way through the song made me squeal in excitement. That's because Sanchez part sets in. I love his vocals in this song. It was flawless. This is what I want from Phantom, to sing or rap songs that brings out their best quality.

For me, as always.. If there's piano playing, I most probably would love the song. I was surprised by the style of song because his previous single was playful and cheeky. I did love his previous singles but this is my favorite style. I like songs that are more sad than happy. Maybe I'm bitter about being single? LOL.

Sanchez, I can talk about your voice all day, and I might just do that in a blog post. I think this is the best of Sanchez I have ever heard. I always fall heads over heels on his voice but in this song just makes me melt. I want more!!! Brand New Music, can I have one single where Sanchez just sings alone?? That would be so awesome!

Although the song is more sad than his previous singles, San.E is able to maintain that same persona. I can feel San.E personality flows through the rap. San.E is on roll! Great songs keep on rolling out, it's a wonder why JYP don't let him promote more. Can you see why I was so excited when he transfer to Brand New Music?

It's been a good year for Brand New Music, I can't wait for new release! Especially from Phantom..because I am disappointed in New Era. GIVE ME SWEET PHANTOM BACK! Or at least a great song that really brings out the best of them. I have nothing against sexy concept, I just want a great song.

What makes me smile :D

Ahhh... Jiyongie, Kwon Ji yong! G Dragon.... 니가뭔데?

I absolutely love Who You by G Dragon! It's so fun and bright! I listen to the song and I can't not move to it. It's such a playful upbeat song.

I love the beginning a lot. It'd be fun to hear the fanchants to it. This song needs fanchant! My favorite of the song is the lively piano accompanion. That brief stop and play part was genius, it builds up expectation and he delivers.

Normally, I dislike random adlib but for this song, it works. It doesn't seem out of place and it is something I would want to sing too. The highlight of the song is "baby I just want you back" part. It's so catchy, I end up singing along.

This songs reminds me of Geek's 어때, which ironically they remind me of GDragon. Based on my limited Korean, 니가뭔데 kind of translate to, "who are you to do this to me?" It's like you're confused on why you like person.

I also really love the MV for this song. It was perfect but of course I was jealous. I wish I could be part of the fans in the video. It's a fun event and you got to be part of the video. It was so sweet of GD to give credits to his fans. My heart melts at the end.

I'm loving Kanto (TROY) What you want featuring Kim Sungkyu of Infinite

Omg it's a Brand New Music and SM collaboration???!! Hah! Okay technically SMC&C but let me feeel! Expect me being bias, but I won't try to cheap on the critic if I had to.

I thought Troy was going to debut this year...what is this Rhymer? Bumkey and Kanto only so far... And it's November already. Nevermind, I like you still give us something great despite the wait.

When the news of collaboration first broke out, I was surprise it was Sungkyu who will be feature. After his solo work, I have the impression he was more rock influenced. So I did come expecting something like Bang Yong Guk's I remember.

Turns out, it was not rock at all... Just straight up hip hop rap track. Honestly I was a little disappointed. However some parts of the song reminds me of Primary, Gaeko and Choiza "? Question Mark" which is one of my favorite hip hop track so this song is easy on my ears.

Kanto sounds matured. I can't believe he's younger than me. I think in this case having two unique vocal color doesn't make it odd. It works well, I'm sort of surprised. It's a good introduction to Kanto rap style.

I really like the MV, as expected by BNM.. Cameos! Troy members are like the king of cameos. Did you notice them on BNR Did not say anything MV? Swings is there as well, but I was surprise by D.O Lee Hyun Do appearance! I wouldn't know if not the "D.O"

I'm hating Miss A HUSH

IHush, don't tell me on Say A...that's the Fanclub name right?

Anyway it was lackluster and I think the occasional "yeah" was off putting. Like YG, JYP artiste sounds okay with English parts but do they really have to put in so much English? I come for the Kpop... As in Korean pop, I don't need English.

Since I am a fluent English speaker, it is only natural that I tend to catch on the English part more. Don't bluff me, say you don't agree that "give it to me" part reminds you of Sistar song!

The choreography is meh. I guess it is hard to live up to their past choreography. It's been a while since their last comeback, is it bad that I expect more? This doesn't seem something worth waiting for.

Honestly I have never been a steady fan of Miss A, it's either okay or no. It's something to grow liking to than something I like right away. This review is based on 1st impression, I may end up humming to this song anyway.

I'm loving Untouchable VAIN featuring Koonta of Rude Paper

Untouchable is back with Bain.. I mean Vain! Do you know that the sound "V" doesn't exist in Hangeul? That's why Koonta was pronouncing it as bain...it's a little awkward but I find it charming.

Koonta's voice is piercing yet attractive. Guy vocal normally lower tone but Koonta's voice is high pitch without sounding like a female. I find his voice strangely addicting. I want to keep on hearing his voice.

I really want to give high praises to Untouchable but I suck at reviewing hiphop. I can't explain in words why I love Untouchable. I just like them. I'm one of those people who think rappers sounds similar to each other. Now that I hear more Korean hip hop, I am better at it.

I do know that Rap isn't merely fast talking and it has to have rhythm. It's also more on lyric wise. I have yet to check the translation but I still believe that music transend through language. I will try to intrepret myself!

Skimp through the English lyrics, I think it talks about their dignity in Korean hip hop scene? Hmmm I think I need to listen more!

I'm hating Phantom New Era Feat Navi

It hurts to write this but OMG PHANTOM WHY????

It's such a huge contrast from their previous single "I Already Know" which was so sweet and lovely to this totally sexy "New Era". OMG ARE YOU TELLING ME, FUTURE STUFF WILL BE LIKE THIS?! Yes, I am MAD, hence the capslock.

I watch anything Phantom, because they are my favorite trio and yeah the teaser is effin porno. I was shocked. MY PHANTOM.......... The MV was less shocking thanks to the teaser. Ahaha what a tease. I think their promotion work this time around since more people are talking about it. I'm sad it has to be like this.

The song was nothing that I love, in fact if they debuted with this... I would not be a fan. It doesn't show the full quality of Phantom's talent like their other previous single. Navi is a singer that I don't really like. I just don't like her voice, she can sing but just not my favorite. The whistle was annoying. I felt the song could have been better. To be honest, I didn't really pay attention to the song while watching the MV. Um.. I'm only human...the MV was hot. Lol even hotter than Troublemaker Now MV.

While watching the MV.. In my head, I was thinking about how Cho Yong Pil would react to this. They freakin sang a song title (to be) ”Like Cho Yong Pil". This is nothing like Cho Yong Pil would do right? Bounce was such a lovely song.......oh gosh why Phantom you do this to me?!

Update : Now that I have actually listen to it several times, I just grew even more disappointed. It is definitely catchy but that's it. Their talent is so severely underuse in the song. The lyrics was good, but they don't expand it further. It's stagnant. Their previous single lyrics, made me think and reflect afterwards. New Era lyrics is just plain.

I am writing this as a fan. I want so badly for Phantom to be popular because they do deserved it but I hate the fact they had to resort into this. Naked teaser and a Naked version MV? You deserved better than that!

Thursday 7 November 2013

I'm loving MYNAME Day by Day feat D.O. (Lee Hyun Do of Deux)

understand EXO is famous but it's annoying to see their fans comment everywhere. It's a little disrespectful. Learn Kpop history for a bit. Lee Hyun Do is a big sunbae! Anyway I am guilty as charged because I ashamedly too, thought it was Do Kyung Soo. I am happy either way, since I love this song! The style of the song is just my style. I love every single beat of the song. I feel it's flawless.

I always thought that idols shouldn't have featuring because they have a rapper and less parts but Lee Hyun Do part is irreplaceable. I prefer having him in the song because it adds a different tone. Idols rapper tend to sound similar to each other.

The MV has a nice color, the scenery is good but I couldn't understand the effects used. There's double people, disappearing and backwards..it's kind of there to add interest without purpose. I do like the sets. It's just nice to look at. I love the fact Lee Hyun Do was included in the MV.

I hate the choreography though. I honestly never dislike a choreography. I thought it's tempo is rather odd and I prefer less movements. The choreography doesn't suit the song at all. I had a hard time watching their performance. I definitely would have skipped their performance had not I heard of the song.

MYNAME is an idol that I overlook because of their name. It's a group that I don't want to be involve. How weird is it to say "OMG, I love MYNAME!" Hahahaa. I know I'm a bad person. Even if you say it in Korean, it still sound awkward.  If their next single is still good, I will make sure I memorize their names!

비밀 (Secret)

I don't want it to be confuse with the same name group, hence the title is in hangeul.

Having been disappointed with "Makjang" genre in the past... I made a vow not to watch anymore of it's kind because it's either ridiculous or too many heart boiling moments that calls you to throw something at your TV.  Makjang, for better explanation do visit dramabeans.com... Is basically contains murder, plot twist and sometimes ridiculous scene.

I missed a lot of dramas this year due to busy schedules, I did hear that this drama is melodrama (it means prepare ya tissue!) but thought nothing of it. I saw the cast did their promotion on Happy Together and it was a fun episode so I decided to support the first episode.

Makjang it is. So many ridiculousness I just know this is bad for me. Curiousity kills the cat, I stuck with it because I want to know how the heck MinHyuk end up with YuJeong. Oh and I want An Do Hun dead. Please scriptwriter, make it happen!

I am not going to reveal anything on the plot because spoiler is not good for this show, you need to watch without spoilers. You need to be on the edge too! The review of Korean audience and international audience seems good, I'd say watch it!

There is an article on the last episode being unpredictable. Yeah right. Pretty sure someone on Soompi forums would have guess it.

Don't continue reading unless you watched this drama.

My prediction, Kwangsoo and his brother might be the one behind it........... You can't go more unpredictable than this.

UPDATE aww man, My prediction was wrong, Ahn Do Hun didn't die. Nevermind the ending was good la, my kind of ending.

Qualification of a Kpop Fan

You may not agree with me in this post but this is my blog and I'm open to discussion.

I was reading comments on blogs and it gets on my nerves to read some of this so called fans. Here are some of the examples

1. I'm a big fan of _____ but I don't always remember all the members name
2. I'm a big fan of _____ but I dislike one member
3. Mention other group or singers

Why do they call themselves big fan? I don't think you have the rights to refer yourself in such way. Remembering members name is the very basic of Kpop knowledge. I'm not asking every fan to memorize their blood types or what kind of food they like. Though, that would qualify you to call yourself a "big fan".

Groups to me is all about teamwork, to dislike or worse, hate on one member is the same as not liking the group. It makes my mind spin to read that kind of comment.

A good way to start a war on the comment section is to comparison. OMG, stop that! I usually ignore because I like too many groups to join a war. It hurts to read though. There should be a rule that you should not mention other group in the comment section! You are not helping your favorite idols! Respect other fandoms.

I do think there is a qualification to call yourself a Kpop Fan. You don't just like the music. You live the Kpop Fan lifestyle.

Good Doctor Review

The thing with Kdrama, regardless of different theme or settings, it always have that typical Kdrama plots. If it ain't broke why fix it? Right?

I do like medical theme drama but I have learn that you should not expect much medical part in the drama. That being said, I think the scriptwriter manage to balance it out. It has few interesting cases but nothing makes me get out of my sest kind of cases.

Honestly I thought the drama was boring. The bits I like is too little. I enjoyed Inhye, nurse Jo and headnurse parts only. The main characters for me, does not feel realistic. I do think Joo Won, Moon Chae Won and Joo Sang Wook are great actors but the way of their character potrayed is just don't feel right.

I think the drama would have been better if it was more focus on Joo Won's character growth than other unnecessary plots. I would also prefer more interaction between ShiOn and Director. Ryu Deok Hwan's cameo did nothing to me....I don't know why it is not utilize properly.

Good Doctor for me, only serves as a good in between drama. I probably won't remember this drama in the future.

Studying Korean

Note : I wrote this post months ago. I forgot to post it up.

How I started to learn Korean is weird. I just find it fascinating that the Thai fans had hangeul on their signboards at the concerts. I go on Aheeyah.com and slowly learn some basic. I find it very interesting to type in hangeul on keyboard so it was something I did for fun. What made me really want to learn hangeul was seeing non kpop fans having Korean names on their profiles. Lol. I was jealous, someone who isn't a Kpop fan have Korean name? Absurd. So I studied more, till I could read without constantly checking the romanization.

Now being able to read Korean is easy, but understanding Korean is not. I think partly because there's a number of ways of expressing in Korean and spelling Korean is hard. I would have tweet more or even used more in hangeul if I wasn't so worried about spelling.

My vocabulary is expanding thanks to watching Kdrama everyday and all I listen to is Kpop. I get little moments of happiness when I'm able to understand Korean tweets. I'm currently studying like 10min per day of Korean by myself. Yo, I'm a lousy student.

If I were to give a tip on how to read hangeul faster, read Korean subtitle on variety program. It usually appear in seconds so you have to pause from time to time. It's basically killing two birds with one stone, you can have fun and study!

This isn't a tip, but I practice writing hangeul for better understanding. It's easy to type on keyboard, however it is more effective to be familiar with writing hangeul. I think? Hahaha still in progress.

I'm loving Lee Jung I am Sorry

I wish for more songs like this! "I am Sorry" by Lee Jung has everything I love in music. Great piano melody, good hook, perfect amount of adlib and so much soul! I love rnb ballads hybrid kind of songs. I'm not a pro in genres but it's close?

I'm fond of Lee Jung since I got to know him in Unstoppable Marriage sitcom. He is a funny and witty guy with great talent. I enjoyed him on Immortal Songs 2, he should just appear permenantly! I wish him more success!

My favorite thing about the song is how Lee Jung projects his emotions, it's just perfect. Some singer has trouble of projecting emotions properly. Lee Jung does it well enough for you to feel it without destroying the quality of music.

The MV is simple and artsy. I dislike the lighting.. You can't really see his face properly. I thought every scene is carefully thought out. The scene with him on the piano is beautiful, when he dance with the drawing girl is just so cute. I thought the dance part could have been projected better.

I'm loving Seo In Young 나를 사랑해줘 feat Gaeko

I'm loving Seo In Young's Love Me featuring Dynamic Duo Gaeko

Unless it's one of my favorite idols, usually I just fast forward through other performance during Music Bank because I'm too busy for other kpop idols. I stopped fastforwarding for Seo In Young, because she's so pretty!

I'm obsess with good looking hair. I seriously watch any videos with beautiful hair..like 2eyes, ladies code and spica..maybe I should blog about this obsession of mine..not. Blonde hair is either a hit or miss for me, and there's no doubt Eonni looking oh so good with it!

Enough asthetic comments, I like the song! The beat is catchy, Gaeko's rap parts are smooth and Seo In Young is an amazing singer. I didn't quite like the hook ending, it's was out of place but not too bad. I also think the ending ad lib part should be removed..it didn't sound good recorded nor live. I am not questioning Seo In Young's talent to pull a note, sometimes the part is there to "show off".

Listening to Gaeko's rap makes a diffence. Her other featuring rappers on live performances were making the whole song worse. I rather use the backtrack than having live. Some people need to practice more.

Everyone is dating but me.....

It's an exciting week with so many dating news. Thankfully this time, Knetizen didn't let me down like WonBin and Lee  NaYoung's news.

First up Kim Woo Bin confirms he is dating fellow model Yoo Ji Ahn. This news didn't affect me much, I did like Lee Jong Suk X Kim Woo Bin couple in School 2013 but hey, Lee Jong Suk is my Song Joong Ki replacement...lol miss ya JOOONGKII!

I feel indifferent about T-ara this day because why waste time on hating? But boy the response on Soyeon dating  Oh Jung Hyuk is something. I wasn't familiar with Oh Jung Hyuk but I watched this week's Happy Together on KBSWORLD and umm dayum girl is lucky. Oh Jung Hyuk body is banging. They have been together for 1000 days so well, I wish them well! I just find it super cute that a fan manage to capture her idol's heart. Soyeon was a huge Oh  Jung Hyuk fan back in the day so as a fellow fan, I am happy for her. Korean men and military goes hand in hand so yeah, many feel Oh Jung Hyuk can do better since he was in the marines but it's been 3 years..which means Oh Jung Hyuk seen her ups and down, plastic surgery and all..

And the biggest reaction would be 14 years gap rumored couple, Choiza of Dynamic Duo and f(x) Sulli. The picture seems believable to me. Both sides denied but I don't really mind the couple for some odd reason. I find them compatible.... Maybe because they are my favorites in their group.

L of Infinite.. Let's call him Myungsoo because L is cool and he is not being cool about this. I feel like the couple are bunch of childish adult. Kim Do Yeon is one thing, but Myungsoo tweets are so deceiving the fans. The fans were so disappointed that they take a hiatus on the fanpage. That is a huge deal for us Kpop fans. Kim Do Yeon should be more mature..she purposedly show off her relationship. Okay, fine every other couple does it but you should know that his fans made him what he is today so don't break their hearts!

Anyway, couple cloths trend in S.Korea must die. Why celebs does it too makes no sense. Fans know everything! I don't take any effort in fashion department but many fans in Korea takes notes of it. I personally hate it because my no.1 fashion philosophy is not to look like the next person. Yes, I hate identical cloths...if I had twins, I would never let them dress alike.

I don't care if idols date anymore but I wish they either admit the relationship or hide their dates well. Don't lie. That's all I ask.

SLAKPF : Fan Gift

I used to want to give something to idols but now I realize that the best gift I can give is buying their albums.

I am unemployed (long story) so I think that it is not right to use my parents money on gifts that are excuse me, meaningless. If I save up my money, I rather spend it on emergency.

I love idols a lot but yeah, I realize I have to live my life too. I know realistically idols will never learn my name. Do you give gifts to strangers before your idols? If you do, awesome! Faith in humanity restored! If not, cool we're the same!

Some gifts are awesome like rice wreath and donations, but are you doing it with good intention? I believe that you should do charity with best intention. It's seems more like rich showing off money rather a good deed with all that press.

Kpop makes me happy, and I will continue to support Kpop. I will buy albums when I got some money. For now I will quietly support my faves through a screen.

Unpopular Kpop Opinion

http://unpopularkpop-opinions.tumblr.com/post/60574940106/i-used-to-pity-chen-xiumin-because-they-are-the

<i> I used to pity Chen & Xiumin because they are the two Koreans chosen to be in a Mandarin group/sing Mandarin songs (before they merge), idk why but if I were them, I would feel pretty damn sad, because it feels like SM thinks they are not good enough for the Korean group/public :(</i>

I like to read Unpopular Kpop Opinions because I like to see reason behind the hate or dislike in general. This is one of the post that I feel I need to give a reply.

Let me say that I love EXO as one but I still thought EXO K and EXO M is a brilliant idea. It made memorizing their names so much easier and the fact it is use for separate activity, less burden. (goodness idols schedule are ridiculous!)

When I first saw the teaser, somehow regardless of his nationality.. I knew Xiumin is in EXO M. His visual fits best with the rest of EXO M members. As known, SM is famous for putting visual into priority so it makes perfect sense. Xiumin is the oldest member along with Kris and Luhan, more the reason to place him on EXO M. He has the character that work well in M market.

As for Chen, isn't it obvious that his voice fits Mandarin the most? I'm sure SM would have test their main vocalist on who fits Mandarin. Luhan is a good vocalist, but Chen levels it up. BaekHyun and D.O voices matches very well together, (in What is Love, it was difficult to pinpoint who)  so I think they didn't want to separate them.

I think the Chinese members would have been equally sad not to promote in Korea since they have been training in Korea for a long time as well. I feel they are happier to promote in Korea as seen on Show Champion during Mama days.

I think it's unfortunate that the poster thinks SM put them in EXO M because "they are not good enough". The exact opposite, SM puts them on EXO M because they are the best fit for EXO M. They both are representing Korea in the group, it is a big deal.

Woolim merge SM C&C

If it isn't clear enough, I have been a fan of SM Town since the beginning of my Kpop days. Regardless of rumors I've read or the scandals surround with SM Entertainment, my heart belongs to SM Town. Simply put, I would never be the Kpop fan I am today without SM.

I was ecstatic to find out about SM C&C, the side label that manages top actors (Jang Dong Gun, Kim Haneul, Han Jimin) and top MC (Kang Ho Dong, Shin Dong Yup). Not too sure about dramaland but SM certainly had huge impact on variety shows. I'm happy to see more of my favorite idols on variety show as of result.

However the news of Woolim Entertainment merge with SM C&C was shocking and I can't help but to feel bitter about it. I have no bad feelings about Woolim artistes, in fact I do like them. It feels different from San.E going to Brand New Music, because that is a match made in heaven. Woolim and SM? It's just an odd match.

I am slightly happy when the management insisted that they are not going to change style, but now there's rumors about Woolim artistes joining SM concert. Oh gosh, please no. Let it be separate. I love my SM Town interaction and to put Woolim artiste to the mix? I don't even want to imagine.

I wish Woolim artiste can get better promotion, but not interfere with my SM Town. I don't even want Woolim trainees to learn SM style. Let's keep it SM and Woolim separately.

Phantom 다알아 Lyrics (Bahasa Malaysia Lirik)

Saya sudah tahu

Saya sudah tahu hanya dengan pandangan wajahmu
Saya sudah tahu walaupun kamu tak bercakap panjang
Bertapa kamu mencintaiku
Bertapa kamu kasihiku

Kegembiraan hanya mengelak saya
Cinta saya mungkin nampak seperti penakut sebalik perang
Tetapi kamu memberi saya keberanian, memberitahu saya bahawa saya boleh
Bahawa dunia ini masih lagi keperikemanusiaan
Tangan kecil kamu memegang tangan saya dengan erat
Dan saya tak akan melepaskannya

Saya sudah tahu hanya dengan pandangan wajahmu
Saya sudah tahu walaupun kamu tak bercakap panjang
Saya sudah tahu, wajahmu memberitahu
Kamu sentiasa berada di belakangku
Saya sudah tahu, kamu tinggal denganku walaupun pedih
Kamu menerima kelemahanku

Kamu mementingkan kebimbangan remeh saya dahulu
Terima kasih kerana memberi hidup sebegini
Untuk membenarkan saya untuk dikasihi
Untuk tinggal bersama saya

Saya sudah tahu hanya dengan pandangan wajahmu
Saya sudah tahu walaupun kamu tak bercakap panjang
Saya sudah tahu, wajahmu memberitahu
Kamu sentiasa berada di belakangku
Saya sudah tahu, kamu tinggal denganku walaupun pedih
Kamu menerima kelemahanku
Sekarang saya memelukmu, kamulah yang terakhir
Kamu sudah tahu

Saya rasa bersalah kerana saya tidak memiliki banyak untuk kamu
Saya kenal hati kamu

P/s Heart in malay is "Jantung" but we normally use "hati" to express love which means liver. So yes, it is funny when I see people touching the chest when saying "hati" We don't use "jantung" because it just sound weird. I guess the story behind it is that "hati' sounds similar to heart, that's how we come to use it.

Untouchable - Call Me feat Andrew Choi

It seem unreal that 2 years has passed and my boys are back from military! Haha I really did "survive" 2 years without their new music. Their last single "You You" was a fun upbeat song and made me wanting more. Now back with "Call Me" with Kpop Star 2 Top3 finalist, Andrew Choi. This song was produced by the talented Andrew Choi himself.

The song begin with soulful RnB vocals by Andrew, makes you drawn in slowly. The rhythm is easy on the ears and I always had like Andrew's voice.

I get happier at Sleepy's and The Action rap parts, I almost teared a little. I miss these guys. I'm not an expert on hip hop, but I love the way they rap and their voice are always great.

I hope for more songs by them! Where's Hwayoung by the way, not the female Hwayoung.. His voice was great, too bad he's not always promoting.

I wrote this post last month, forget to post it up as I got busy in the middle. I didn't watch them perform this song. I wish TS spend less time on BAP and focus more on Secret and Untouchable.

I'm loving Phantom I Already Know (다알아)

I didn't have to blog, You Already Know that I love Phantom! (Didyouseewhatidid!) I blog this as soon as I heard it. I'm such a fan.

The MV though.. Makes me jealous! I really wanted to go the concert so bad! I still remember the date. OH so jealous. If I couldn't go to their 2nd concert, the universe hates me. A little trivia, the clips are contributed by the people who went the concert! Awesome!

The song is so short though, like less than 3 minutes. It's enough to captivate me but I wish it was longer..more Sanchez's adlib. The teaser didn't have Sanchez's part..was mad and now the song is short? Arggh.

Sanchez and Hanhae voices, omg it's like eating honey, very sweet and good for you! Kiggen, that deep voice is like velvety creamy sweet cream. It's lunch time when I wrote this. I'm sorry. I've read the lyrics translation, I'll have toothache right now, it is even more sweeter. These guys are so romantic. Have you read Like Cho Yong Pil and Come as you are lyrics translation? Any girl that marries them in the future, I'm so jealous. All mistakes are forgiven. Like seriously.

Could they be performing this? I'm not sure because they didn't promote Come as you are, but I'm excited anyway. I'm excited for anything Phantom!

P/s Happy 1st Anniversary Phantom! Phantomism for life!

You in my arms

Even with just one album, the late Yoo Jae Ha is a singer that many talented singers of today still talk about.

It was on Immortal Song 2 episode on Yoo Jae Ha that makes me want to share his talent. It was a great episode. I highly recommend to watch Ha Dong Kyun's performance.

The arrangement was apt for Ha Dong Kyun but it didn't stray too far from the original. Gilgu Bonggu harmony was just perfect. I really love the combination of their voice along with Ha Dong Kyun. I was impressed with his last performance on Immortal Song 2, but this performance was even better and umm he won! SPOILER! Haha

The lyrics are poetic, it is unfortunate that Kpop only had one album of him. Do check out his album!

I'm loving Verbal Jint featuring Troy Bumkey Walking in the rain

Despite hating rain, like the actual raining not Mr. Jung Ji Hoon. I like rain related song. My favorite is One Way's Rainy Days and Beast's On Rainy Days. Speaking of which, I really hope it rains in South East Asia, because we got bad haze over here. Thankfully my area had some rain so it isn't as bad as other area.

I didn't really know about this song before clicking the video because I didn't understand their tweets. I thought VJ was just supporting Bumkey's Bad Girl..Ahaha but this is awesome, great rapper and great vocalist, I had this great feeling about this whole song.

I wonder who produced this song, it felt like Primary or Zion.T kind of production. The music is rich with musical instrument without being redundant. I love the smooth transtition of Verbal Jint's rap parts and Bumkey's part. I know this is is VJ's song but I'm more biased towards great vocals of Bumkey. His voice control is playful yet classy.

I do love Rap but I'm not really good in commenting about it. Verbal Jint do work well with any artiste, I have not heard any collaboration of his that doesn't sound right. It's his deep voice that stood out in any collaboration that makes him a good rapper. I find girl rappers weird..only a few I can enjoy like Yoon Mirae and Miryo..the rest, are kinda meh or plain bad.

Random Post

I got have those random post sometimes.. You probably curious what's my other life is.

I had a personal blog before..but since my life is pretty much dead, I stopped blogging. I don't have any interesting event to share and if there is, it's too personal for public view.

Time flies by without notice. I'm scared but I can't wait for next year to start already. 2013 seems meh. Plus, next year is MY YEAR! The year of Horse! Though, usually it doesn't mean good luck. Nevermind, it will give good luck those next to me!

May has just ended and pheww! Wasn't it a busy month for weddings? So many invitation and many Kpop celebs are getting married as well. I didn't attend any since I hate weddings. I don't know..just the atmosphere is not my thing. Lot's of meeting distance relative, those I will only meet during wedding. I just don't get the Kadazan culture of inviting everyone connected.

It also means the end of Kaamatan or Harvest festival. My least favorite holiday because I'm not pretty (pageant contest), not talented (singing contest), sore loser (traditional games) and not a drinker (lots of booze). I'm so not Kadazan, my ancestor would cry. Sorry. this child of yours can speak more Korean than Kadazan.

I've been studying Korean.. Alone. I got so many books on Korea. Ahaha that's all I buy these days. I just purchase Lonely Planet travel guide on Korea. Hmm maybe I should have bought Seoul guide instead, but it's okay can watch Korean travel shows with ease. Lol

Tuesday 4 June 2013

it's my blog and I write if I want to.

Happy Birthday Micky Park Yoo Chun!

My wish for you is to appear on all the music show in Korea. I miss DBSK, but I'm fine with JYJ. As long as you are happy.

I haven't watch anything YooChun lately, but he is still my ultimate bias.

Gaah. I feel old too. Kpop changed so much over the years.. Never thought DBSK would end up like this and SuJu..don't let me start.

JYP out Brand New Music IN!!!

I'm on roll! Woot! 3rd post of the day!

So I read BN_Music tweet today and it says "JYP......" I'm like "wtf do they need to talk about JYP?" Before actually trying to read hangeul. I clicked on the article and yes! I shouted for joy literally as I try to understand the Korean article.. San.E is in Brand New Music!

If you follow my twitter, you would know how I react.. Hmm. Yeah, go check out my twitter @HallyuSurfer #selfpromotion

He released "Rap Circus" MV today and WARNING IT CONTAIN CLOWNS! And harsh language..:D

I hate clowns but I can watch it because it's not in person. Lol It's fine to skip the video, it's pretty cool editing but what you got watch is the subbed version provided by thehiphopLE on YouTube. Just read the translation and cover the rest...if you're scared of clowns. Kekeke

Anyway the lowdown is, he definitely dissed JYP.. I am assuming he referred the company as "Zoo" and he also hated his past project as he said to forget all the nickname because he is starting fresh with "Big Boy". Hmm. I can't say more, I probably got lost in translation since I am not sure if he dissed GD or not.

Welcome to Brand New Music San.E! Woot I am happy for you! JYP is going down! Woohoo! I told ya! Ahem, yeah. I left the JYP fandom since JaeBum left. I knew JYP was trouble. Don't know why you join JYP anyway, the company forces you to go JYP style all the time.

Officially Loving Geeks

Better late than never. After Phantom's last stage, I didn't have any song that I really love. EXO was disappointing..I mean, I love watching them on stage but the song got to go! Music Bank was not too fun. I feel like missing an episode wasn't a bother.

Anyway, I watched Yoo Hee Yeol's Sketchbook on Sunday and I come to learn more about Geeks. I love their single "How Are you" so much, so I anticipate the performance. They didn't perform it but I like their talk part. Hehe the origin of their group is interesting.Through online. yup, it's the new era. Hehe For the video, kbsworld on YT has the video in subs!

Their breakout song "Officially Missing You" sampled Tamia's song of the same name. I was too busy fangirling other idol at the time but it's my current jam now. I prefer this version than with Soyu.. it just sound a little bit more fun. I think?

As for "How Are you?" I saw their performance and loved it. The song is cheeky and fun. I love the whole vibe of the song and the lyrics are so current. The last part is spot on! The boys voice tone is a little high and it made the song so much brighter.

Although I do like Wash Away, it wasn't my favorite because I like seeing the happier side of Geeks rather this mellow side. It's no bad just, they looked better playing around the stage than being serious. Normally I prefer songs like "Wash Away" but Geeks is an exception.

They're currently in WA Entertainment which is cool! Because it's Phantom label too! I am slightly blur about it but yeah.. Phantom is in WA Entertainment beside Brand New Music.

Jealous of Eat Your Kimchi

I wish I could stay in Korea and do the things they do. Their fans are crazy, they give gifts like they're Kpop Idols and get super welcome at the airport. Wow. I am so jealous! I wish I could ask for donation for my own studio, and buy a photobooth so I can play with it all the time. I wish I could interview all those Korean Celebrities.

I would definitely troll my fans by creating a Kpop Chart and not choose the no.1 sometimes because I can. I can criticize English usage in Kpop MV while still use spellcheck on my blog so I won't call the fans "guise". I'd skipped call idols in different name though because I respect B1A4 and Beast.

Maybe I won't call my shows in random acronym because it's plain silly. I'm not an English Teacher but Wonderful Adventure Now Korea, Food Adventure Program For Awesome People and Open The Happy doesn't sound right.

Simon and Martina, if you read this.. You both are such lucky people. I'm jealous of your achievements. I hope that if you decide to move to Japan or open a Cafe, you don't ask for donation anymore. Maybe get a loan from the bank or ask for potential investors. I know it's not my money but hey, let's not be too greedy. Just a friendly advice.

If you're still wondering why fans are pissed off when you decided to choose one of the Top 3 instead of the usual No.1 video, Kpop fans are dedicated people. Kpop fans would do everything so their idols can win on the charts. Imagine how they feel when they did so much hardwork so you will review it and then you decided not to review because you don't like it. It is an offence to their hardwork. Let me say this, your viewers gave you this comfortable life. They have the right to say anything.

I'm hating EXO Wolf

Title is mostly based on the song, this not anti site.

I have mixed feelings about Wolf I can't finish the MV but the Mnet Countdown performance was bearable. Minus the noise, I enjoyed the performance. I think the parts are evenly divided. Maybe it wasn't but I didn't go "where's xx" at all. SM really nailed that part. Some other group have less members and it was so obvious that their parts were not evenly distributed.

I think I've read reviews on the snippet since last year... Apparently there are fans leaking it, which angers the producers. I figured maybe SM is trolling with us. There's no way it's going to be about wolf...right? So months past, and uptil yesterday I was still hopeful that this just some epilogue or teaser stuff. Obviously I'm wrong. The song gave me an impression that SM is testing waters with us. It is definitely a SM thing to do. They always seem to experiment with stuff.. I wish they did the same with Super Junior. Everything lately sounds bits and pieces of Sorry Sorry.

I tried to finish the song but every time someone howls, I automatically stop the player. I've done this to other songs a lot of times before but never this bad. I want to so badly to like the song but that howl has got to go! Sorry, I can't properly review it.

The choreography is probably my favorite this year. It was super powerful and I like it highlight each members. There's more people on stage but it wasn't messy. I'm just glad it's all 12 on stage not like Mama.

The biggest mistake was Kai's hair. DON'T MESS with THE FACE's hair! Come on, he has like the most teaser last year, and you mess with his hair? Not cool, not cool! I didn't like Sehun hair either. He doesn't look like the guy who would volunteer to have that kind of hair.. Maybe Chanyeol would be better to do that. Speaking of which, that guy look different again. Took me double take to recognise him.

Stop making reaction video!

I tried watching those video hoping it will be funny like eatyourkimchi or finebros' react video series but no, it's literally just watching people watching video. Vlog is the way to go, or like me blog about it!

I can't find Kpop videos without having reaction video on the result. At first, I thought cool, non Asian likes to watch Kpop...but I already know that from Allkpop, which I believe had lots of Non Asian fans judging from the comments.

Speaking of reaction, I can SLAKPF (speak like a Kpop fan) on it. If you watch Korean variety shows, you would know that reaction is a big part of talk show. That's why there's numbers of guest to make the show lively. For example Star King has a lot of "judges", the guest spot is often a challenge for comedians, idols or actor because everyone wants to take part. Only guest with talent or great reaction will be allowed to be guest. Which actually a part of the show I don't like.. It put less spotlight on the actual contestant.

Another thing why reaction is so important in variety show is the PD (Program Director) often like to pick exaggerated reaction on film because it looked better for the show. Guest always overact so they got better screen time. If your favorite guest didn't show up on screen, his/her reaction was weak. Korean shows love reaction a lot so much you will see them in slow mo, added effects like "!!!" or "대박" or "OMG" across the screen. More often you can see them repeatedly in different shots.

To all the "reactors", it's better to just do a Vlog, commenting on what you thought of the video. You can take eatyourkimchi as a guide but don't blantly copy everything! If editing video isn't your thing, do commentary as you watch.

Hyeri and Tony Ahn

I don't know what to feel.

Girl groups aren't my thing, but lately Girls' Day caught my attention because I think Hyeri is gorgeous in Don't Forget Me and Yura was my fave in Expectation. H.O.T wasn't a group I know well since they disbanded before I was a Kpop fan. I have seen Tony on variety show and old clips but that's it.

I dislike the idea of big age gap relationship but who am I to say anything... I just find them weird. Let see how long this relationship last but I rather them not being together for long.. It's just not good image for her.

IMPACT TO DEBUT!!!

Yes the horror of caps lock, but that's how I FEEL!

I didn't want to blog yet because no date was released yet but I was angry at the top comments on Allkpop for not leaving nice words. Sure, there were some people commenting on Byun Jang Moon, whom is my favorite already but I have to blog because I'm so excited.

Impact is a male vocal group from Star Empire (Jewerly, ZE:A, Nine Muses) with members Van, Sungho, Junghu, Jangmoon, and Pilrib. For now, I'm just going to talk about Byun Jang Moon, because I only know him. He is the former member of A'ST1 whom I really really love. His voice is easily on my top 3! It's not only me, but go to any A'ST1 old videos, you are bound to see people talking about his voice. The tone of his voice is unique, there's something about it that make me go crazy. He is the reason I love A'ST1. I was completely devastated when they disbanded. Miss you so much Sung In Kyu oppa, RIP.

There's no one else I wanted to redebut more than him, so when I got the news back in 2011 about him redebuting, I was excited but this Star Empire only debut him now, well about time!

That said, I understand the fan who were against Star Empire to debut this group. I clearly remember how DSP debuted Rainbow and neglect A'ST1... They had so much potential to be great but no, girl groups was more popular that time hence Rainbow got more attention. However, this is vocal group! I really hope it stay that. Byun Jang Moon can dance but no, don't ruin my chance of hearing more ballads from him. I would be very sad if his part is short.

On the bright side, if Impact daebak, it will naturally benefit ZE:A, Jewelry and Nine Muses. IT MUST BE GREAT, PLEASE!

Psy is not a Gentleman

Well, it is true looking at the video..lol

In short, I don't love it. The music isn't something I would voluntarily play and the video was not funny..my humor is weird so there's that. For me the whole thing felt like recycle. I always like familiar things but Psy Gentleman felt like a bag of ideas that I already know.

I would have stop watching at the part where Psy unties the bikini string, because that's borderline offensive for me. I only manage to finish up to end without seeing behind the scene footage. BTS stuffs are something I avoid..I rarely watch bloopers.

After a while, the video reminded me of Nice Guy video by NigaHiga, KevJumba and Chester See. That was good. Maybe I get their humor more than Psy version. Psy was being rude in a way I can't laugh about. It's like laughing at someone falls down, which is mean.

I know why GaIn was selected as a cameo but I wish she didn't. It reminded me too much of Abracadabra (I know that's the point) that I can't help but to compare it. Why not go all out by inviting all of BEG members? Why only GaIn?? Is it necessary to include all Infinity Challenge members? I don't watch the show so I can't relate. Haha and Jae Suk was good but still meeeh, seen it.

For me, I think it could have been done better. I think Psy had all of these ideas that he wanted use and I would say to drop some ideas. Mostly stuff that reminds us of Gangnam Style.

Random update

Because I can.

At this point I am so not sure if i could board the plane or not. There's new obstacle everyday. The trip suppose to happen in a month.

I wish I could blog comfortably but it's so hard because Kpop just give me reminder about this whole trip which makes me headache. Expedia, you ruined my life.

Anyway, since I'm already writing.. Let me do a quick review on stuff. I didn't quite like Phantom's "Come as you are" despite the featuring with Verbal Jint. It's just not my style of music with all that jazzy feel because I hate jazz music. It's difficult to explain because to be honest I describe song I don't like as "jazzy".

As if I need any more reminder, Korea is now in the spring season.. Kpop is filled with many spring theme songs. Busker Busker is sure big this time round, wow. 2AM ballad is fine, not really catchy but good. K.Will's Love Bloosom is not my favorite of his. I really like him singing more sad song because his voice has this great sad quality. Infinite Man in Love isn't exactly "spring" but the feel is definitely spring like. I like the song but it doesn't stuck in my head for some reason. I keep on forgeting the beats....

I'm actually worried about the N.Korea threat. I do know it's common for them to give threats every now and then. However it feels different this time, not because I'm actually probably going to S.Korea but Gaesong closing and their warning for foreigners to evacuate makes me feel anxious. With Chinese tourist no longer entering N.Korea, the income of N.Korea is becoming lesser each day. Not having money can make people go crazy and I'm afraid it will get crazy.

I hope N.Korea can reconsider their decision, not fighting with their neighbours but to come together to share.

I'm loving Nu'est Yobeoseyo 요버세요

The title is in Korean because they have a different song with the title Hello. Yup, way to confuse the international fans. A little info, you greet someone in person with Ahnyeonghaseyo 안녕하세요, but on the phone, you say Yobeoseyo.

The members are quite young, apart from Ren, I didn't find any factor that makes me want to learn more about them because I don't have much space in my brain for all the kpop idols. I still at least try to listen once of their song. Yeah, finally a song I like!

I'm more of a dance ballad fan than faster song so this fits right for me. The thing that caught my attention was the choreography, it was different that usual with all the props and more interaction with background dancer. Haha, to be honest..all I wonder was how they were going to Random Play Dance to this song. It's a popular segmen on MBC Weekly idol where idols have to dance on spot to song that are randomly play in different parts.

I don't know the members name yet but their vocal were good in the song, I was attracted to the first guy who sing. His voice totally capture my attention. I guess he shines better in slower song because I hardly notice him before. I'll check other past video to be sure.

Whether you like ballads or not, do give the performance video a try.. The choreography is fun to watch. I would skip the MV.. It didn't do much for me.

SLAKPF : Idol

Let see how this goes, I've been a Kpop fan since 2006 and technically I am a sunbae (senior) in Kpop fandom. I like to share my Kpop knowledge to many rookies out there. This post is Speak Like A KPop Fan! You don't need to be fluent in Korean to sound like a Kpop fan, you just need to know the meaning and you're good to go!

For this first post, the first topic is IDOL. It's no brainer really, without idol.. Kpop wouldn't be the thing you know today. Idols are so common today, more than 80% (totally made that up) of the singers on today kpop music program is saturated with idols.

The word "idol" is an English word, and yes it does mean like what you read in the dictionary back in the days when idols are first introduced in Kpop scene. My generation probably cite H.O.T., g.o.d., Sech Kies and many more in the late 90's group as idols. Older generation would probably refer SoBangCha (Fire Truck) and "Seo Taiji and Boys" as originator. I didn't experience both since I only a Kpop fan in the late 00's but from what I have learn, it was mad crazy.

I could go on and list all the craziness of fans do back then but this post will be long. To give you a picture, have you seen Michael Jackson concert videos? That is tame compare to Kpop idols concert. Belieber fandom are pretty crazy too, but Kpop idols are crazier times 100. Koreans are extremely passionated people. While no one get assasinated, there were incident of almost poisoning.Basically, idols are literally idol.

Today that meaning change. Idol of today is define as a group of either female, male or co-ed singers. The numbers of members are varied typically from 4 to infinity, current largest membered group is A-Peace, a whopping 21 member. Lately trio groups are considered idols but not common.

Although the term idols is not really what it originally meant today, some bigger fandom do experience a high level of craziness. Sasaeng fans are individuals or sometimes group of crazy fans that would stalk, harass and a whole lot of dangerous thing towards their favorite group. DBSK had the worst Sasaeng fan experience. The sasaeng are known to follow every move of their idols, to the point of chasing cars, trepassing their house and hack their personal info.

Top 10 Idols you must know (rank by seniority)
1. Dong Bang Shin Ki
2. Super Junior
3. Big Bang
4. Wonder Girls
5. So Nyeo Shi Dae
6. Kara
7. SHINee
8. 2PM
9. Beast
10. Infinite

Daniel, Marijuana? That's Nonsense!

Did you see what I did there???? DMTN! ㅋㅋㅋ

Ahem, excuse me. I was trying to sound like myself...instead of boring reporting.

This is written based on one article, so this is my first reaction. I totally did not see this coming. I had to rub my eyes and read twice when I first saw the news on allkpop. I scan through the comments, clearly no one has yet to claim they knew/suspected it. I can't wait for netizenbuzz to post the Korean netizen reaction next. I've been refreshing 10 times already.

I'm not the biggest DMTN fan, but I support them because they were from MC Mong agency. I was upset they left the company but understood the decision. Hemmm..by the way, If DMTN can, why not Block B? That's for another post. I am especially supportive of Daniel, because he is Yoseobie friend. WHYYY DO THIS TO ME?!

I've seen him trying hard to audition, saw clips of him on Strong Heart, Oh My School and Qualification of Men. The point is, I know DMTN members are working hard for every opportunity. I wanted them to succeed somehow because hardwork should pay off.

Imagine how I feel upon reading this news..this is completely at the wrong timing. Am I hoping this will be fake? Sure..but the damage is partly done. The company already stated that the matter is complicated than it is seen.. No denial. That's all I need to know.

I guess it's shocking because Daniel seems to have that good boy image. I can't even imagine him smoking to be honest. Yeah, news flash..I'm so naive. He is reported to sell too, there goes my everything. I am starting to feel sorry for those Kpop idols, but this time I can't defend him.

I just hope everything will be alright for the rest of the members. Daniel, I am disappointed.

UPDATE: according to netizenbuzz, reps denied smoking but admited to selling..well okay then, that's like worst. Huhu

Kdrama Talk : Ad Genius Lee Tae Baek

I do like this drama but don't have that longing to watch it. You know how you feel about your favorite drama, like "nooo.. I have to wait another week!!" this drama did nothing like that for me. That doesn't mean I don't enjoy the drama.

Perhaps because I studied multimedia, I like the aspect of advertising interludes the drama. Some of the ideas are predictable..lol maybe just me? But I like to be right. :P The thing the drama lacks right now is love line.. I wish it was a little more than just friendly kind. The past stories can give a miss and erghhh why make me hate Han Chae Young!!! I will never forget her in Sassy Girl Chun Hyang! I wish she wasn't so spiteful.

Park Ha Sun is so pretty! I can't help but smile along whenever she smiles. Even if this drama sux, I would continue watch for her and.... GO CHANG SEOK! I was so happy to see him in the drama. That's like a sealed deal for me. I like his personality a lot, especially in 1n2d and Running Man! so glad his character on the drama is just like him!

I recognize the foreign worker, he appeared in 1n2d.. His Korean is so good! This drama has two idols, but don't matter since both are only playing small part. Secret's SunHwa is playing TaeBaek's sister and Dalshabet's Ayeong working at GRC. For fun, both of them are love rivals.

It's a light drama..like it's not going to make you bawl but there are touching moments. It's funny in some parts but not tummy pain funny. It's a good filler between drama in a good way.

I'm loving SHINee Dream Girl

SHINee's Back!

We get it MinHo, it was fun in Sherlock but this time too? I guess Minho needed more part.

SHINee is one of the groups I loved since debut, I've seen so many quirky outfits by SHINee, it felt like uniform. I feel so happy to see those bright colors in their outfits! The song is so SHINee, I don't even know how to explain that meaning.

The song sort of remind me of their past songs, when they were less famous (before getting no.1 on charts) only this time is so much better! Now it felt like each member had equal parts and Taemin sounded like Taemin. Back when he first started to have more parts, he kind of sound like Jonghyun. Thanks to his stint on Immortal Song 2, I actually can recognize his voice. There is not single part of the song I didn't like, overall I really like it. I'd say it's actually less impact than their previous song.

I didn't like the MV, because the effects are driving me crazy. The choreography is slick! I love the mic and without it, it was not overdone. SHINee will never disappoint when it comes to dancing.

I'm loving BAP One Shot

What a return! At first, I didn't want to check this out at all...because I'm still at "Stop it" phase.. I still want cutesy BAP!! And can we just let them rest? I thought HimChan injury would make it clear but no, they are still on stage working it.

Anyway so I can't help but to check it out, and I love every single beat. It has all these interesting catchy part and it sound cool. I usually hate "uuu" part but this was so cleverly used. This song made Baby (yup, FC name) remind why they were a fan in the first place. It has the same vibe as their debut single and it's so BAP.

The lyrics are predictable with funny Engrish but hey, having flaw is good because everything else is perfect. What I like the most about this song is that every member had impact on their part. You don't go, "where member X" or "member Z has too little part" yes line distribution should be fair in the first place but if you manage to get a strong impact with one line, I'd say that's good enough.

One Shot choreography is SIIIICCKKK. The "push up" routine was so spot on. Of course, magnae Zelo part is the best. That's GIF image worthy right there. I feel like only BAP can pull of their dance move because they owned it.

Lastly, PLEASE HAVE A LONG REST BAP!

The Baby all over the world need time to save money! ㅋㅋㅋ

SBS Kpop Star 2 rant

I just watch the Battle round episode, and I cannot accept the fact they eliminate Yoon Joo Suk! The guy is talented, he can play the piano beautifully and he has that ability to control his voice! I really dislike the comment "emotional-less" given to him because no idols of these 3 companies are perfect in conveying emotion all the time. It's a competition, you get tension and nervous at the same time. It is so hard for me to understand their decision.

As a fan of music, sure emotion is important in delivering the song but for me technique is king. You just lost another talent right there. He just need some experience from the real life to get those emotion flowing.

Top 10

1. Bang Ye Dam

As the youngest in the group, I think he should have wait until puberty strikes. It's kind of tricky since male normally change their voice when puberty. He would need time to adjust to his new voice later because his voice now is not staying forever.

2. Choi Ye Geun

I don't like the tone of her voice, it's too unique for me. She plays well on the piano but will she be okay with just singing? I feel like the judges are most focus on her piano playing and mannerism rather her singing. It's no surprise since the judges are dancers

3. Sung Soo Jin

Never thought she would made this far, she indeed made an improvement. For me, it's just feel average. I don't get this show anymore, is this a boot camp? The fact a contestant improve is more important than having someone talent. What a joke.

4. Lee Jin Woo

I think I need those headphones too because I couldn't share the same joy when she entered Top 10. She's alright but that's it for me. I don't think she did anything remarkable.

5. Andrew Choi

Aigoo, feel sorry for him la. He should have joined Superstar K since this show seems to cater younger contestant. He has an interesting warm vocal that is easy to the ears. I'm not sure if he would succed well enough in the business alone but putting him in a group is weirder. He stll has that aura of a person working backstage.

6. Kim Do Yeon/Shin Ji Hoon

Doyeon withdrew so Shin Ji Hoon replaced her. Now this is ironic. What did the judge felt when she sang the last time round? Did they feel her wanting to move on?? Her song of choice is perfect for her but it has parts that are flawed. JiHoon, for me is great for what she is now. I think she should have focus on figure skating more. She's still young and having to attend to both is not only hard for a child, but adults as well.

7. Racoon Boys

I wish they had different name. Heh. I have no idea why I can't seem to agree with the judges..okay, specifically JYP. He said that MinSeok is a great rap writer. I don't understand Korean so I skip that but don't he sound the same in 3 different song? Brian and McKay did something different each week but the rapping style by Minseok feels the same. Acoustic is lovely on stage but I think they need something fresh.

8. 2000 Won

I like the guys but the judges kept on giving harsh review. It's so funny because YG doesn't compose/write songs, JYP is lousy with Hip Hop and BoA is not Hip Hop. I don't think any of them understand the genre well. I think they would have the most success out from Kpop Star 2 later on.

9. YouU

The name... Anyway, the girls were better in SM since SM are good with girl groups. I absolutely adore MinJoo and Soyeon. The rest are just OK. I understand why many didn't like them but I feel they could easily be molded to be a good idol in today's industry.

10. Akdong Musician

I would absolutely hate it if they end up working for any Big 3. I think the companies would have destroy the group. They were good before YG started interfering. I believe they're still young, have more room for growth but maybe by themselves.

Kdrama story

My main passion is Kpop so this blog is more about music than other stuffs but I like to be balance with my blog. In this post is how I get to know about Kdrama.

My very first Kdrama was Autumn in my heart, which could have been the reason why I'm obsessed with the season. That or maybe because I love yellow color lol. If I was born in Korea, it would be autumn. Song Hye Kyo was so beautiful and Wonbin is my first celeb crush!

I could tell this story in so many ways that I just don't know how to start. My parents don't let me watch TV on weekdays during school time and thankfully this drama was shown when my exams were over. I don't know if it's because it's the first drama I watched since a long time or simply it was different from the TVB (Hong Kong drama) that I'm used to because I was so excited about the drama. My friend who caught an episode like the drama but couldn't watch it because her family wanted to watch different channel. Everyday I would have tell her what's going on and eventually wrote the summary for her because I am a bad storyteller and forgetfull. That piece of paper is being circulated in class. I feel proud to perhaps introduce Korea to others! (U ingat lagi ah? Time darjah 6 tu..lepas upsr?!)

I've watch a couple of drama since then, Jang Nara was so influential for me, I just love her! I also like Goong and Sassy Girl, ChunHyang. Good times! These are on a differenf post.

KBSWorld started premiere in Malaysia and I think the first drama I watch was Bad Love. It was forgettable...but I finished it for Kwon Sang Woo. It was my first time watching a Korean series not dubbed and it was weird. Since then, I try to catch up with the latest drama.

Another first, Coffee Prince was the first drama I watched close to real time. I thought it was significant to add because I remember going to YT every week to watch the drama during my biggest exam year. It was risky business I tell ya. It didn't matter to me because it is still one of my favorite dramas ever! 2007-2008 was a good year to get to know YT, back then google haven't bought YT which was awesome because you got no problems with copyright issue. YT was famous but not as famous like the present times. I'm still sad whenever my favorite uploaders got suspended. Boohoo.

As times goes by, the number of Kdrama to watch keeps growing. You literally don't have enough time to watch every single Korean drama. Unless you never sleep or you have no life. I love Kdrama but sleep is king.

Kpop Meme

Around the World with Mizz Nina feat Jay Park

Finally..... I can say this. I support my local music scene! Lol

I knew this since last year because @HallyuM (Kpop happening updates in Malaysia) tweeted about the rumor of Mizz Nina to collaborate with a Kpop artiste. I figured Jay Park right away because they shared the same stage on MTV World Stage in Malaysia last year. Then @NazimOthman confirmed my prediction, he is a Malaysian actor who is a Kpop fan.

If you wondering why the single is in English, Mizz Nina has been trying to breakthrough International market. I'd say she's popular in Malaysian Radio but that's it. She had Colby O Donis and Flo Rida collaborated with her in the past. She's good but ya know I'm busy with Kpop to listen to other stuff. She's famous for being the daughter of one of the richest person in Malaysia and is married to Noh, a singer in a band called Hujan. Fun fact, Hujan means rain.

Around the World is produced by Chacha Malone, part of Jay Park AOM crew. I love the song except the part when there's no singing part, because it feel like the beats are just put together randomly, possibly to make way for choreography? Jay Park raps in Korean is sort of surprising, will they perform in Korea? I wish Mizz Nina would slip some Malay just to balance it out. The lyrics are pretty disappointing, it lacks creativity (the part "I want to touch the sky" is meh) and I have to point out that Malaysia-Korea travel doesn't require visa, unless you stay more than 90 days. Yup, I googled.

I'm really interested on what other's think of the song. I know it will be played in Malaysian radio but will it reach Korea? This is sort of out of ordinary.

Learning Korean

I am happy whenever I see my twitter timeline and understand the Korean tweets. I don't understand all but it feels like an achievement.

Before I was a Kpop fan, I was more into Japanese culture because I grew up reading manga. I read less but part of me still love manga a lot. I had a group of friends who were into Japanese cultures as well. They were more advance than me, they know some Japanese phrases and can write in Japanese. I thought it was cool but never bothered to pick up the language.

I always think if I'm going to learn a new language, it has to be Chinese first. It is my ultimate goal to master Chinese. It's a complicated story but I wish someday I would be very fluent in Chinese!

However, as I become a Kpop fan.. Learning Korean was a natural process. I started to learn Hangul first because I was jealous at non kpop fans who had their names in Hangul on Facebook. Suddenly I wanted to know how to write my name in Korean. Btw it's 밀리. ㅋㅋ Hangul is really not that hard, I started with 안녕하세요, 사랑해 and 오빠.

While Hangul is easy, speaking Korean is hard. I know the difference between Jeondaemal (Formal) and Banmal (informal) but there's saturi (dialect) too. There are many ways to express a simple sentence. For example Thank You can be Kamsahamnida, kumapsumida, Kumawoyo, kamsahae or kumapta. My spelling seems odd but romanize Korean is not easy too. That's why I resort to type in hangul, because it look better.

Now I speak some Korean to my dogs. None of them understand Korean yet, but my dogs are already bilingual, so no pressure. Lol If I'm alone, I mostly mumble in Korean and when I watch Korean drama. Instead of studying like an exam, I prefer learning Korean naturally. It's a slow process, especially when I don't talk to a Korean or live in Korea.

Is it necessary for Kpop fans to learn Korean, nope. Music is universal language but there's no harm in studying hangul. Fighting!

Rest in Peace Sung In Kyu

Cancer has robbed yet another star from us, I'm so sad when I read the news. You know how they say, "no news is good news"? I knew InKyu was sick back in 2011..it really did feel like it was yesterday I read that news. It's so unfortunate that the next news was this.

Sung In Kyu was a rapper in a group called A'ST1 (pronounced A Style) debut in April 2008 and disbanded in November 2009. Their songs were 1,2,3,4, Back, Dynamite and Yearning of the heart (Boys Over Flowers OST). Please do watch their radio videos..heck watch all of their videos. It's not that much, since they only active for a year. I love every single video available on YT.

A'ST1 was my favorite debut in 2008.. Yeah, I love them more than SHINee, 2AM, 2PM and others who debuted in the same year. It's so ironic how I got to know them, DSP is a stoopid company who made lousy marketing move. Before the influx of foreigners in Kpop, SuJu was the first group to have a foreigner in the business, HanKyung. By having Tomo (Japanese) and Hai Ming (Chinese) in the group, DSP market them as a challengers for SuJu. It angers SuJu fans, including me because well, anyone could have misunderstood the concept.

So here I was prepare to protect SuJu to comment A'ST1 on YT..remember I am 17 back then, lol. Instead I fell in love with the group. Haha 반전! Twist ending. 1,2,3,4, back was my song! It was a catchy song and the boys sound awesome. Since then, I become a fan and you could imagine how angry, sad and frustrated I was, when DSP announced their disbandment a year later! I hated DSP so much, I even hated Rainbow. I felt DSP didn't treat A'ST1 properly like Rainbow. Ah, in case you don't know.. Despite the level of fame now, Rainbow was one of the popular debuts back then.

I still love the group, so I try to keep up to date with the group members. Jungjin appa is preparing debut with a new group in Japan, Tomo is hosting a show in Japan, HaiMing went back to China, HanByul is part of Monday Kiz and last time I check, Jangmoon is in Star Empire to debut as Impact. Star Empire......is so late. The news is old, please give my JangMoon debut.

I remembered the letter back in 2011, the one that InKyu wrote to tell his condition. i was already upset then, since before his announcement..there weren't any updates at all. Turns out he was sick. In the letter, he mention he wants to be on stage in the future. It breaks my heart, the dream was not fulfilled. This is so upsetting. Part of me, still feels this whole event is unreal.

인규 오빠, 사랑해요.

Thank you for all the joy you have given me in your lifetime. I really hope the other members will succeed for you. A'ST1 fighting!

ㅜㅡㅜ ...... T_T

My title cannot be more random than that! Anyway, if you don't get it.. It's emoticon for tears. In this post I'm discuss/review two hip hop song with tears in the title.

Bae Chi Gi feat Ailee "Tear Shower" 눈물샤워

It's super hot on charts and I've seen lots of people raving about it. It's keep on getting 2nd on Music Bank, I hope they win because charts are like so predictable. I want to hear them indies do some Thank You speeches! I like the rap parts but not the chorus. I know... How could I hate Ailee's part?! She is indeed, amazing but I dislike the "lounge feel" or the "old feel" of the song. It's just not my cup of tea. I've heard various K Hip hop, it's nothing to shout about, but it's good.

LeeSsang feat The Seeya's Eugene "Tears" 눈물

Coarse/ Husky kind of voice is kind of tricky for me, I sort of like it sometimes but at times I feel like giving Gil a huge bottle of water. It definitely is not boring, though. Lol. As seen in Running Man, Gary is smooth with words. I love the song, it easy listening and catchy within the first listen. I'm anti CCM so it was really hard to review Eugene, hmm..she definitely sound helpless as in good for the feel of the song, I think she's a good vocalist but in some parts on the higher end is making me cringe. It sounded sharp, I think Baek Ji Young would have nailed her part so much better.

P/s sorry for spelling errors if any.

Supearls disband

What a disappointing decision made by YG and the girls.

There has been rumors of discord with Lee Michelle few months ago, maybe its part of the reason of disband. What's the real reason, nobody knows.

As a fan, I'm truly disappointed for having hopes on this group. It was a highly anticipated group from Kpop Star. I think YG thought Lee Hi wouldn't fit the group and without Park Ji Min, the group is not as good.

I would have prefer this news broke out after Kpop Star 2 ended. It feels weird to watch Kpop Star 2 now. YG better not let me down again with Lee Seung Hoon. I'm still waiting for him to debut.

In another news, I truly don't want Akdong Musician or Racoon Boys to debut under Big 3. I feel like the Big 3 would make them focus more on "audience" rather than music itself. I think maybe SM won't sign contract with anyone this year as well.

HallyuSurfer, name explained.

I write this post for my twitter account as I noticed a number of real surfers following me.

Sorry to disappoint, but I don't surf ocean wave at all, I surf the internet and the waves only mattered to me are sound wave and Korean wave. I don't even swim.

You've learned science back in school on what is sound wave so I'll just explain what is Korean wave. Korean wave, better known as Hallyu is a term describing the popularity of Korean Pop culture overseas. The term is first coined by the Chinese media, as Hanliu.

I am a foreigner who loves Kpop, therefore I called myself, HallyuSurfer.

Feel free to click the unfollow button.

Idol Analysis : Concept

Idols concepts are a lot but if you take all the unnecessary adjective from the description, it really goes down to just Sexy vs Cute.

Cute

I love cutesy stuff, and cute concept is the thing that made me a Kpop fan in the first place! It's something only Kpop can pull of. Well, Jpop can be cute too but naah Korean bromance FTW! If I were to name 10 favorite idol performance, 8/10 of it are cute concept. I love group members interact with each other during performance, I love the playfulness of the song and I love they are smiling on stage!

However, cute concept can be bad sometimes like T-ara's Bo Beep Bo Beep, DBSK Balloon, or SNSD Kissing U. I don't even want to let anyone non kpoppers watch those, I'll let them discover it themselves.

Sexy

It's a tricky concept because the line between "confident sexy" and "cheap sexy" is thin. I love looking at choco...ahem, you know but it feels uncomfortable to watch sexy concept. 1. Because I know how their diets are, 2. It looks cheap at times. I can't count how many time I stopped mid way because it was so distasteful. Ahemhyunaahem.

There are positive things about sexy, it shows confidence and hardwork. I love charismatic sexy male concept and female groups do need to grow up from cutesy concept too.

Short post, but I want to at least write a post everyday.

Koreamie~!

Hello! It's end of May and this my first post of the year. *nervous laugh It's okay..because nobody read this blog right? haha. ...
