My main passion is Kpop so this blog is more about music than other stuffs but I like to be balance with my blog. In this post is how I get to know about Kdrama.
My very first Kdrama was Autumn in my heart, which could have been the reason why I'm obsessed with the season. That or maybe because I love yellow color lol. If I was born in Korea, it would be autumn. Song Hye Kyo was so beautiful and Wonbin is my first celeb crush!
I could tell this story in so many ways that I just don't know how to start. My parents don't let me watch TV on weekdays during school time and thankfully this drama was shown when my exams were over. I don't know if it's because it's the first drama I watched since a long time or simply it was different from the TVB (Hong Kong drama) that I'm used to because I was so excited about the drama. My friend who caught an episode like the drama but couldn't watch it because her family wanted to watch different channel. Everyday I would have tell her what's going on and eventually wrote the summary for her because I am a bad storyteller and forgetfull. That piece of paper is being circulated in class. I feel proud to perhaps introduce Korea to others! (U ingat lagi ah? Time darjah 6 tu..lepas upsr?!)
I've watch a couple of drama since then, Jang Nara was so influential for me, I just love her! I also like Goong and Sassy Girl, ChunHyang. Good times! These are on a differenf post.
KBSWorld started premiere in Malaysia and I think the first drama I watch was Bad Love. It was forgettable...but I finished it for Kwon Sang Woo. It was my first time watching a Korean series not dubbed and it was weird. Since then, I try to catch up with the latest drama.
Another first, Coffee Prince was the first drama I watched close to real time. I thought it was significant to add because I remember going to YT every week to watch the drama during my biggest exam year. It was risky business I tell ya. It didn't matter to me because it is still one of my favorite dramas ever! 2007-2008 was a good year to get to know YT, back then google haven't bought YT which was awesome because you got no problems with copyright issue. YT was famous but not as famous like the present times. I'm still sad whenever my favorite uploaders got suspended. Boohoo.
As times goes by, the number of Kdrama to watch keeps growing. You literally don't have enough time to watch every single Korean drama. Unless you never sleep or you have no life. I love Kdrama but sleep is king.

Around the World with Mizz Nina feat Jay Park
Finally..... I can say this. I support my local music scene! Lol
I knew this since last year because @HallyuM (Kpop happening updates in Malaysia) tweeted about the rumor of Mizz Nina to collaborate with a Kpop artiste. I figured Jay Park right away because they shared the same stage on MTV World Stage in Malaysia last year. Then @NazimOthman confirmed my prediction, he is a Malaysian actor who is a Kpop fan.
If you wondering why the single is in English, Mizz Nina has been trying to breakthrough International market. I'd say she's popular in Malaysian Radio but that's it. She had Colby O Donis and Flo Rida collaborated with her in the past. She's good but ya know I'm busy with Kpop to listen to other stuff. She's famous for being the daughter of one of the richest person in Malaysia and is married to Noh, a singer in a band called Hujan. Fun fact, Hujan means rain.
Around the World is produced by Chacha Malone, part of Jay Park AOM crew. I love the song except the part when there's no singing part, because it feel like the beats are just put together randomly, possibly to make way for choreography? Jay Park raps in Korean is sort of surprising, will they perform in Korea? I wish Mizz Nina would slip some Malay just to balance it out. The lyrics are pretty disappointing, it lacks creativity (the part "I want to touch the sky" is meh) and I have to point out that Malaysia-Korea travel doesn't require visa, unless you stay more than 90 days. Yup, I googled.
I'm really interested on what other's think of the song. I know it will be played in Malaysian radio but will it reach Korea? This is sort of out of ordinary.

Learning Korean
I am happy whenever I see my twitter timeline and understand the Korean tweets. I don't understand all but it feels like an achievement.
Before I was a Kpop fan, I was more into Japanese culture because I grew up reading manga. I read less but part of me still love manga a lot. I had a group of friends who were into Japanese cultures as well. They were more advance than me, they know some Japanese phrases and can write in Japanese. I thought it was cool but never bothered to pick up the language.
I always think if I'm going to learn a new language, it has to be Chinese first. It is my ultimate goal to master Chinese. It's a complicated story but I wish someday I would be very fluent in Chinese!
However, as I become a Kpop fan.. Learning Korean was a natural process. I started to learn Hangul first because I was jealous at non kpop fans who had their names in Hangul on Facebook. Suddenly I wanted to know how to write my name in Korean. Btw it's 밀리. ㅋㅋ Hangul is really not that hard, I started with 안녕하세요, 사랑해 and 오빠.
While Hangul is easy, speaking Korean is hard. I know the difference between Jeondaemal (Formal) and Banmal (informal) but there's saturi (dialect) too. There are many ways to express a simple sentence. For example Thank You can be Kamsahamnida, kumapsumida, Kumawoyo, kamsahae or kumapta. My spelling seems odd but romanize Korean is not easy too. That's why I resort to type in hangul, because it look better.
Now I speak some Korean to my dogs. None of them understand Korean yet, but my dogs are already bilingual, so no pressure. Lol If I'm alone, I mostly mumble in Korean and when I watch Korean drama. Instead of studying like an exam, I prefer learning Korean naturally. It's a slow process, especially when I don't talk to a Korean or live in Korea.
Is it necessary for Kpop fans to learn Korean, nope. Music is universal language but there's no harm in studying hangul. Fighting!

Rest in Peace Sung In Kyu
Cancer has robbed yet another star from us, I'm so sad when I read the news. You know how they say, "no news is good news"? I knew InKyu was sick back in 2011..it really did feel like it was yesterday I read that news. It's so unfortunate that the next news was this.
Sung In Kyu was a rapper in a group called A'ST1 (pronounced A Style) debut in April 2008 and disbanded in November 2009. Their songs were 1,2,3,4, Back, Dynamite and Yearning of the heart (Boys Over Flowers OST). Please do watch their radio videos..heck watch all of their videos. It's not that much, since they only active for a year. I love every single video available on YT.
A'ST1 was my favorite debut in 2008.. Yeah, I love them more than SHINee, 2AM, 2PM and others who debuted in the same year. It's so ironic how I got to know them, DSP is a stoopid company who made lousy marketing move. Before the influx of foreigners in Kpop, SuJu was the first group to have a foreigner in the business, HanKyung. By having Tomo (Japanese) and Hai Ming (Chinese) in the group, DSP market them as a challengers for SuJu. It angers SuJu fans, including me because well, anyone could have misunderstood the concept.
So here I was prepare to protect SuJu to comment A'ST1 on YT..remember I am 17 back then, lol. Instead I fell in love with the group. Haha 반전! Twist ending. 1,2,3,4, back was my song! It was a catchy song and the boys sound awesome. Since then, I become a fan and you could imagine how angry, sad and frustrated I was, when DSP announced their disbandment a year later! I hated DSP so much, I even hated Rainbow. I felt DSP didn't treat A'ST1 properly like Rainbow. Ah, in case you don't know.. Despite the level of fame now, Rainbow was one of the popular debuts back then.
I still love the group, so I try to keep up to date with the group members. Jungjin appa is preparing debut with a new group in Japan, Tomo is hosting a show in Japan, HaiMing went back to China, HanByul is part of Monday Kiz and last time I check, Jangmoon is in Star Empire to debut as Impact. Star Empire......is so late. The news is old, please give my JangMoon debut.
I remembered the letter back in 2011, the one that InKyu wrote to tell his condition. i was already upset then, since before his announcement..there weren't any updates at all. Turns out he was sick. In the letter, he mention he wants to be on stage in the future. It breaks my heart, the dream was not fulfilled. This is so upsetting. Part of me, still feels this whole event is unreal.
인규 오빠, 사랑해요.
Thank you for all the joy you have given me in your lifetime. I really hope the other members will succeed for you. A'ST1 fighting!

ㅜㅡㅜ ...... T_T
My title cannot be more random than that! Anyway, if you don't get it.. It's emoticon for tears. In this post I'm discuss/review two hip hop song with tears in the title.
Bae Chi Gi feat Ailee "Tear Shower" 눈물샤워
It's super hot on charts and I've seen lots of people raving about it. It's keep on getting 2nd on Music Bank, I hope they win because charts are like so predictable. I want to hear them indies do some Thank You speeches! I like the rap parts but not the chorus. I know... How could I hate Ailee's part?! She is indeed, amazing but I dislike the "lounge feel" or the "old feel" of the song. It's just not my cup of tea. I've heard various K Hip hop, it's nothing to shout about, but it's good.
LeeSsang feat The Seeya's Eugene "Tears" 눈물
Coarse/ Husky kind of voice is kind of tricky for me, I sort of like it sometimes but at times I feel like giving Gil a huge bottle of water. It definitely is not boring, though. Lol. As seen in Running Man, Gary is smooth with words. I love the song, it easy listening and catchy within the first listen. I'm anti CCM so it was really hard to review Eugene, hmm..she definitely sound helpless as in good for the feel of the song, I think she's a good vocalist but in some parts on the higher end is making me cringe. It sounded sharp, I think Baek Ji Young would have nailed her part so much better.
P/s sorry for spelling errors if any.

Supearls disband
What a disappointing decision made by YG and the girls.
There has been rumors of discord with Lee Michelle few months ago, maybe its part of the reason of disband. What's the real reason, nobody knows.
As a fan, I'm truly disappointed for having hopes on this group. It was a highly anticipated group from Kpop Star. I think YG thought Lee Hi wouldn't fit the group and without Park Ji Min, the group is not as good.
I would have prefer this news broke out after Kpop Star 2 ended. It feels weird to watch Kpop Star 2 now. YG better not let me down again with Lee Seung Hoon. I'm still waiting for him to debut.
In another news, I truly don't want Akdong Musician or Racoon Boys to debut under Big 3. I feel like the Big 3 would make them focus more on "audience" rather than music itself. I think maybe SM won't sign contract with anyone this year as well.

HallyuSurfer, name explained.
I write this post for my twitter account as I noticed a number of real surfers following me.
Sorry to disappoint, but I don't surf ocean wave at all, I surf the internet and the waves only mattered to me are sound wave and Korean wave. I don't even swim.
You've learned science back in school on what is sound wave so I'll just explain what is Korean wave. Korean wave, better known as Hallyu is a term describing the popularity of Korean Pop culture overseas. The term is first coined by the Chinese media, as Hanliu.
I am a foreigner who loves Kpop, therefore I called myself, HallyuSurfer.
Feel free to click the unfollow button.

Idol Analysis : Concept
Idols concepts are a lot but if you take all the unnecessary adjective from the description, it really goes down to just Sexy vs Cute.
Cute
I love cutesy stuff, and cute concept is the thing that made me a Kpop fan in the first place! It's something only Kpop can pull of. Well, Jpop can be cute too but naah Korean bromance FTW! If I were to name 10 favorite idol performance, 8/10 of it are cute concept. I love group members interact with each other during performance, I love the playfulness of the song and I love they are smiling on stage!
However, cute concept can be bad sometimes like T-ara's Bo Beep Bo Beep, DBSK Balloon, or SNSD Kissing U. I don't even want to let anyone non kpoppers watch those, I'll let them discover it themselves.
Sexy
It's a tricky concept because the line between "confident sexy" and "cheap sexy" is thin. I love looking at choco...ahem, you know but it feels uncomfortable to watch sexy concept. 1. Because I know how their diets are, 2. It looks cheap at times. I can't count how many time I stopped mid way because it was so distasteful. Ahemhyunaahem.
There are positive things about sexy, it shows confidence and hardwork. I love charismatic sexy male concept and female groups do need to grow up from cutesy concept too.
Short post, but I want to at least write a post everyday.

Variety Guide : Immortal Song 2
I love variety shows but it's really hard to blog about because I am not really passionate, it don't matter for me to miss an episode. I choose to write Immortal Song 2 because today is Saturday!
Immortal Song 2 is a music competition that features singers from variety of genres battle each other to win the trophy. Each week, has a new legend and singers will choose the legend's song to reintrepret. At times, there are special week featuring old shows, holiday festival and many more.
The singers on show are part of fixed cast, recurring guest or newbies. The main MC is Shin Dong Yup, while Moon Hee Jun and Jung Jae Hyung are the backstage MCs doing commentaries with the other singers. There are 500 audience acts as the judges.
The order of who goes first is chosen by Shin Dong Yup, the legend or invited guest will comment on the performance. The audience will vote via pushing the electronic button. Winner will be chosen with the higher number of votes.
Here's a secret. I mainly watch for the commentary. I usually skipped the performance to watch the reaction. If the reaction is really good, then I will rewind to watch the performance. My favorite cast are Sweet Sorrow, Ulala Session, Hong Kyung Min, Ailee, B1A4, SuJu KRY, Infinite, Cha Ji Yeon, Jay Park, Hyorin and Changmin. Actually a whole lot more...but it will be a long post.
The program introduce more singers and especially musical actors, initially meant to showcase idols singing capabilities but idols are too busy to commit to the show. It's a good show for the whole family.

Album review : Phantom's Phantom Theory
1. Hide & Chic (feat Microdot)
2. 조용필 철럼 [Jo Yong Pil Cheo Reom, Like Cho Yong Pil]
3. Dutch Pay
4. 할 수 있는게 [Hal Su Itneunke, The Things I Can Do]
5. 손톱 (feat HJ) [Son Ddob, Fingernail]
6. 말 놓을게 [Mal NuhEulKe, I'll Talk Plainly]
7. 조용필 처럼 (inst.)
I don't exactly know how to start or how this post will be, I usually review based on what I feel at the moment as I literally listen to the song as I write the review. It's not like an in dept kind of review but if you want to discuss, just leave a comment.
1. This song proves how bias I am with Phantom. If this song is sung/produced by someone else, I wouldn't bother to listen twice, perhaps not even finishing it. The reason how I come to love this song is because of the awesome teaser! I totally got fooled by Hanhae, and Shin Brothers was awesome! I don't like the beats but I kept listening, just because. Microdot is Sanchez's brother, who was part of ALLBLACKS along with Dok2.
2. There's so much reason why I love this song, I already blog about this song but I need to say how I love the lyrics. My favorite part is Hanhae's "I'm not lonely because dreams caught me when I was young". My favorite song of the year so far!
3. This song had two teasers but both only featured Sanchez part which I absolutely love so I was curious how it sound like in full. Admitedly I was disappointed I didn't quite love as much I thought I would be BUT! I watch their radio performance, it was so fun and lively..so I ended loving the song. It would make a great main song so I'm hoping Phantom to perform it more in the future! Dutch Pay is a Konglish term for "going dutch" which means bills paid separately.
4. This song screams "CHEESY!" It has a lot of FEEL. Koreans would understand me. I do like the song a lot mainly because I love Phantom's voice in it but my face can't stop cringing for the overloadness of cheesy, mushy and greasy adlibs. Thank you for the rap parts, it actually bearable but ugh, the chorus is so emotional.
5. I don't know who is HJ but she sounds like Hwayobi with similar singing style. This song is my least favorite song maybe because Sanchez only rap in the song and it just feel mediocre. it's good but compare to what I've listen, this is just meh. The guitar was good and the beats are good, just feel plain. The good thing is, it felt perfect for Kiggen, I like that he started and ended the song.
6. Before talking about the song, let me inform you about Korean culture. Elders are always respected, there's two form of speaking formal and informal. Only friends of the same age or had mutual agrement on it are allowed to use the informal. So yeah, that explain why Kpop fans are always practising "Oppa" or "Noona". As you could guess, this kind of song is not my type but I can always find stuff to love. The song is full of wits, the lyrics made referrence to other "Noona" song, Lee Seung Gi's "You're my Woman" and SHINee's "Noona so pretty (Replay)" After several listen, the song got stuck in my head. The chorus and beats are easy to follow, it's heavy but it has sense of familiarity. The ending is 대박. Lol.
7. I can't find the instrumental on YT. I was hoping to sing along. Sigh.

Three is a crowd
First of all, Happy Lunar New Year! I'm celebrating it, so that's explain the lack of post. It's the year of snake, and I hope there will be great improvement on the blog.
As you might be well aware, I'm a big fan of Phantom, I still love idols but I am leaning towards less pop songs. It just so happen that the songs I like currently are from three member group
Aziatix - Cold
In case you didn't know, the guys recently signed a record with YMCMB for US advancement. I didn't expect it but wasn't surprised. I'm not familiar with them but they were regularly featured on Allkpop back when they first started out. Their musics are mostly in English, so I don't really check them out. I stumble their video on TV and this song got me hooked! This song is love at first listen!
Lunafly - Clear Day, Cloudy Day
They sort of debut last year. I don't recalled them performing on music shows. I would say they're like indie but has an idol feel. I like acoustic guitar but for me it serves like an interlude rather something I would listen to everyday. I just like the fact they sing their song in English too. They're good enough to sale their music but nothing to go crazy about. Teo is so pretty!
One Way - U Drag
So much love, I love this group before Phantom. I would be so excited if they're making a comeback but it seem unlikely right now. Chance is on Duble Sidekick team who produce a few top hits last year is probably preparing a new idol debut, while Peter and Young Sky are a duo called D20 (Detour) who also produce some tracks. Please correct me if I'm wrong, I just state a few that I know from reading tweets. Please comeback! This song is one of the older song but still good. I love the relax yet random song. Hehe.

Cheer Up, Mr Kim
I didn't need to think much whether I want to watch this or not because Kim Dong Wan is starring it. He is my bias in Shinhwa! I have not watch his other acting gig but I felt that his character was written for him. Either that or he is sure a good actor! I like parts of the dialogue that I can relate to. Some parts can be predictable but it's can't be avoided. I'm still watching this because I want to know how Cheolryong find his brother and how HoKyung overcame his anxiety. Please let him overcome it writer-nim!
Sat- Sun
My Daughter SeoYoung
I was going to full blog about it but it's not easy. Whether I will blog it or not, time will tell. I watched this because of the director. I've watch his past drama, Master of Study and Brain which both I loved and he tends to use his favorite people..sort of. I notice it was the same people I saw in Brain in this drama. I like the actor, Shim Hyung Tak whom he has work with in all 3 dramas and the director seems to like doctors a lot. It's these little facts I love when I watched the drama. The drama hit 40% rating which is HUGE. I kind of hate the whole secret theme but I'm still watching this because I want to know how Park JeongAh character falls in love with Shim Hyung tak character and how Lee SangWoo opens up to HoJeong.

School 2013
This drama is a franchise of a popular old drama that made many A-list Korean drama actors of today. I watch it mainly because I want to spot potential big star of the future. I was also happy for Choi Daniel and Jang Nara reunion since Baby Faced Beauty. I'm still watching this for Choi Daniel and JangNara couple to blossom and cute friendship stories.
Wed-Thu
Jeon Woo Chi
bluuur...might drop this soon. Sageuk (historical piece) are not my thing. I'm sorry Cha Tae Hyun. You're a good actor no doubt, I just don't like sageuk that much.

Tasty Life
I know this drama got cut in the end but I just started and I don't know what to expect. I really like Lim Chae Mu in Unstoppable Wedding sitcom. There's a cheating plot and I hate it. I might just drop this for that reason alone. Right now I just fast forward their parts. I'm still watching because of the Lim Chae Mu's tomboy daughter.. Korean scriptwriter don't really know how to write for tomboy character well.. I wonder how this one will turn out.
Mon - Tue
Kings of Drama
So many reasons to watch, Kim Myung Min is one of my favorite actor and finally a Choi Siwon drama I could watch! I have not watch his previous drama. I've seen World Within and On Air, which I did like so I know I would like this too as well. I have read the ending so I'm no longer watching because it has spoilt for me. I might watch it later on but I thinking reading recaps is enough.

2013 Kpop wish
This post is a mixture of prediction and expectation of what I think will happen this year. Do not take this as a referrence at all. I've been a Kpop fan for years so it's not wrong to do this!
Prediction
1. More idols
Despite what expert might say, idols bring more cash than any other type of Kpop singers. This trend will not die. My proof is that even VIXX and Nu'est who are barely recognised in Korea are invited to an award show here in Malaysia. International fans tend to notice idols more than other artiste.
2. More sub units, solo or collaboration from idols
Yeah, I know I'm late because there's 2 Yoon from 4Minute and Infinite H. I always like the idea of sub unit, but so far nothing that makes me go crazy over. Solo from idols did well last year and if I can choose anyone to go solo, I pick Niel from Teen Top because he is talented to bring out the whole song alone and I think it's time to show his personality. For female, I think it would be great to Song Ji Eun of Secret to do a comeback. Oh of course, Hyorin of Sistar would be great as solo too!
Wishes
1. Self produced songs by idols
I'm not that fan who searches for translation for every Kpop song I love. I want to understand the song through music itself. Idols are often criticize for lack of input on the music production and I hope they can attempt to put forward their hearts out.
2. Reunion
I take any kind of reunion! I just want to see part of Kpop history that I missed out. I'd like to see DJ DOC to make a comeback this year, they had a controversy last year..I'm not sure if it has resolve but it will be great for them to comeback in midst of a lot of hoobae. H.O.T. has always been a popular topic in reunion but I say....unlikely. It will be great to watch one performance in any music show.
All these are predictable..let me throw in a big one. Maybe a new idol couple? I think Super Junior should be starting to reveal their relationship. Another one, I think we will see more contract problems like Block B.

I'm loving Phantom Like Cho Yong Pil
If you're looking for a good review, it's not here because I'm totally bias about Phantom. Not a single day gone without thinking about Phantom. If you don't like Phantom, please don't leave a comment. Any bad comment about Phantom is unforgiveable.
I usually don't check teasers because it can be misleading (like SM &TS) or simply I don't have much internet data. I know I whine a lot about not having internet data but it's true! I only have 3gb a month and I used all of it in 6 days. Now I'm running on slower speed meaning I can't watch video.
Anyway, I know somehow it was going to be epic even before teasers because Kiggen @Hybrefine always tweets about it. When I find out last week that it was titled "Like Cho Yong Pil" (조용필처럼) I literally jump up for joy! Lol
Let's start with the video! I really like the documentary style, I thought it reflect best of the tone of the song. I love the cameos.. I only noticed Microdot (Sanchez's Bro and rapper),Verbal Jint, CEO Rhymer (Brand New Music) and CEO Kim Do Hoon (WA Entertainment). It's long 7min but it contains all necessary part that tells the story well, it was well balanced. If I were to fix it, maybe no talking. Just subs on screen. Please watch all 3 video!!
I feel like tearing up when I heard the beginning. It was like piercing my heart.., it was so soulful! Sanchez vocal was so good, his "woo woo" part that I usually dislike is just so sad!! I am speechless. Comes in HanHae and Kiggen who are equally good. I have not hear such a beautiful intro in a long time. I really think there should be more attention to this trio.
Sanchez soulful sad voice is so charismatic that pulls you into hear more. I really don't know how Hanhae does it, he is ridiculously good at transition from singing to rapping effortlessly! His passion for rapping is clear but he can really sing! Kiggen part may be a little less but he has a presence in his deep yet clear rap that adds an interesting element in the song.
The chorus is so addicting, I keep on singing it since teaser was released. I love the composition, nothing was out of place, I love the blend in of majestic orchestra sound with modern beats sound. It's a great piece that pays great homage to the creator of Kpop, Cho Yong Pil while still sound modern for today's society.
I'm surprised Cho Yong Pil allowed Phantom to use his name just because it's risky and duh, he's Cho Yong Pil! Rest assured, Mr. Cho.. Phantom did your name good indeed. I thank Cho Yong Pil for being the inspiration for such a great song!
I watched their performance on Mcountdown, again I almost cried. I feel they really own to their song. It's so crazy of me but I really feel it that way. I am so happy to discover their music. For Cho Yong Pil and Phantom, I hope this song can be on top 3 on Music show! Please win once at least, so I can hear some thank you speech! I can't wait for their Music Bank comeback, I will be waiting and #tweetflood again.

My KBS Drama Awards Reaction
WINNERS LIST (credit : dramabeans.com)
Daesang: Kim Nam-joo (You Who Rolled In Unexpectedly)
Top Excellence, Actor: Song Joong-ki (Nice Guy),
Yoo Joon-sang (You Who Rolled In Unexpectedly)
Top Excellence, Actress: Moon Chae-won (Nice Guy)
I am happy that top honours goes to the dramas I have watched. Shin Ha Kyun who won last year presented the award to Kim Nam Joo, looking dashing...yeah I am a big fan of him, I've been waiting for this moment since he won! Ok, let's get back on track! I'm so happy Kim Nam Joo won the award and I truly think he deserve the award, not only the drama had high rating but also she acted her role well. Yoo Jun Sang was cute that night, calling NamJoo "Chagiah" who was also the MC. I know family drama isn't popular internationally, which is a pity because it's a great drama. I highly recommend it. As for Nice Guy, well it's Song Joong Ki! Who doesn't love him? Moon Chae Won won again! I was surprise how soft spoken she was, I really love her badass and tough character.
Excellence Awards:
Daily Drama, Actor: Kim Young-chul (I Will Give You the Moon and the Stars),
Kim Dong-wan (Be Strong Mr. Kim)
Daily Drama, Actress: Kim Ye-ryung (Love Love),
Seo Ji-hye (I Will Give You the Moon and the Stars)
After Smile Donghae, I gave up on daily drama because it's a long commitment and I always hated mid through. I actually wanted to start again with "I will give you the Moon and the Star" (gaah long title sux) because I like some of the actors but I miss the first episode so I skip it again. Kim Dong Wan is my bias in ShinHwa so I started again this time. Drama, please be good. It's still early episode on KBSWorld, so I can't say much.
Miniseries, Actor: Shin Hyun-joon (Oohlala Spouses)
Miniseries, Actress: Jang Nara (School 2013)
Mid-length Drama, Actor: Uhm Tae-woong (Equator Man)
Mid-length Drama, Actress: Lee Bo-young (Equator Man)
What is the difference between Miniseries and Mid-Length? I'm guessing one is Less 20 episode, and one is 20 episode.. Despite not loving Oohlala Spouse, I do think Shin Hyun Joon deserve the award because he is a great actor. Surprise Jang Nara won again.. Does KBS really love her or what. I love her anyways so congrats Eonnie! I didn't watch Equator Man, so no comment.
Serial Drama, Actor: Joo-won (Gaksital)
Serial Drama, Actress: Yoon Yeo-jung (You Who Rolled In Unexpectedly)
Supporting Actor: Kim Sang-ho (You Who Rolled In Unexpectedly),
Park Ki-woong (Gaksital)
Supporting Actress: Jo Yoon-hee (You Who Rolled In Unexpectedly)
I didn't watch Gaksital, but I do know JooWon is a great actor..If I'm not mistaken this is his third time winning award in KBS for all his KBS drama (Baker King Kim Tak Gu, Ojakgyo Brother, Gaksital) His best buddy also won, hehe I like Park Ki Woong hair.. I know but the color is so pretty! Again, I am so happy Yoon Yeo Jung, who also the MC won.. I want her as my Korean eomma! Lol Kim Sang Ho character is funny and heartwarming and Jo Yoon hee did great as well for her role but I wished Jin Kyung had won! She was in 3 hit dramas, Nice Guy, YWRIU and Cheer Up, Mr.Kim
Actor of the Year, awarded by PDs from all three broadcasters: Uhm Tae-woong
(Equator Man)
Newcomer Award, Actor: Lee Hee-joon (You Who Rolled In Unexpectedly),
Lee Jong-seok (School 2013)
Newcomer Award, Actress: Oh Yeon-seo (You Who Rolled In Unexpectedly),
Jin Sae-yeon (Gaksital)
Oh what a surprise! Newcomers aren't exactly newbies.. Congrats to Uhm Tae Woong for winning a big award. I mean if I was an actor, this award would mean much more. Lee Hee Joon actually won an award for One-Act special drama in 2011, but he is in 3 dramas in 2012.. Wild Romance, YWRIU and Jeon Woo Chi. I do like School 2013 but really? Isn't it too early to tell? Well, at least for me. Congrats anyway MC Lee Jong Seok. Controversy or not, Oh Yeon Seo was great in portraying the worst sister in law in Korea.
Netizens’ Award: Song Joong-ki (Nice Guy), Moon Chae-won (Nice Guy),
Yoona (Love Rain)
Popularity Award: Joo-won(Gaksital), Bae Suzy (Big)
No surprise here. Yawn. It's popularity award, my least favorite catergory.
One-Act Special, Actor: Yeon Woo-jin (Ordinary Love),
Sung Joon (Swamp Ecology Report)
One-Act Special, Actress: Yoo Da-in (Ordinary Love),
Park Shin-hye (Don’t Worry, I’m a Ghost)
Youth Actor: Noh Young-hak (King’s Dream),
Nam Ji-hyun (Girl Detective Park Hae-sol)
I only watch one drama special in 2012 which is SOS (Save Our School), I was rooting for Seo Shin Ae to pick up the Youth Award! Her portayal of a bully was so spot on. Too bad she didn't won but damn, she should! A little tidbit from the awards, the child actor who acted in Nice Guy were talking about Song Joong Ki, so the child actress ask Song Joong Ki if they could work together in the future. Song Joong Ki gave the "OK" sign! It was so cute! (ahem, note that I'm not fluent in Korean)
Best Couple: Song Joong-ki & Moon Chae-won (Nice Guy),
Lee Sang-yoon & Lee Bo-young (My Daughter Seo-young),
Lee Hee-jun & Jo Yoon-hee (You Who Rolled In Unexpectedly),
Yoo Joon-sang & Kim Nam-joo (You Who Rolled In Unexpectedly),
My prediction was almost right! I actually watch unsubbed last week episode of My Daughter Seo Young and if I'm not mistaken, Lee Bo Young and Lee Sang Yoon couple is in the process of divorce! They also mention it in the award. What a weird couple to win best couple award..anyway I am super glad my favorite couple of the year won! Lee Hee Joon and Jo Yoon Hee couple forever! They did a cute duet together right after
Writer Award: Park Ji-eun (You Who Rolled In Unexpectedly)
Yeah! Totally deserved it! If I'm not mistaken, I once watch it on Entertainment Weekly that the writer is actually a variety writer or was it the director? I'm not sure but in her speech, she did thank PD Seo Soo Min of Gag Concert. This drama has a lot of great cameos from Gag concert.

Goodbye 2012, Hello 2013
Last post of the year! Wow, this feels weird. Personally, this year I had suffered a lot but luckily Kpop has been really good. It's a year where I rediscover my love for Kpop, so many rookies that I love, and I will continue supporting Kpop next year as well.
My favorite Kpop moment is discovering Phantom, there is not enough words to express how much I love this group. I love every single thing they do, and I am excited for their new release! In my head, all I think is Phantom!
My regretful moment is definitely not being able to meet Jay Park who had a showcase in my city!!! OH GOSH WHY??!! I know I just couldn't go because my family had a Mother's Day dinner. Family comes first.
In 2013.. Well there is Golden Disk Award held in Malaysia that I cannot go at all because damnit, I am broke. The concert tickets is what I like to call "cekik darah", umm what is it in English.. It is loosely translated as extreme burden, direct translation "chock blood" haha. Even if I live in KL, I don't think I could afford. Sigh.
Good news, I might go to Korea next year! Not so good news, family follow..haha well, I just have a different travel ideas in Korea. I'd probably just visit music stores, KBS,MBC,SBS, SM and YG Buildings..you know, the places where I can spot celebrity..I'd be happy to meet Kim Ki Yeol..(get it? Gag concert)
This site might go through changes, but not sure when. I just hope I will be more motivated to write more. If my words written had offended you this past year, I am sorry. Thanks for reading my not so good blog and I hope it inspires you somehow.
Happy New Year 2013!

My KBS Best Couple award prediction
KBS awards are my favorite because I can watch them live! KBS Drama Awards is usually during New Year Eve, but the list of best couple nominees are out and here's my prediction!
Best Couple awards is usually multiple winners, so I'll do just that,
1. Gong Yoo and Lee Min Jung for ‘Big‘
Love Gong Yoo, Love Lee Min Jung...BIG HATE to the drama. They do have chemistry but naaah. I don't think it's worthy of a win.
2. Baek Sung Hyun and Suzy for ‘Big’
Puppy love is endearing, but not cute when it's one sided most of the time. I don't ship this couple at all. I think they're only listed because someone wants Suzy to win.
3. Kim Kang Woo and Jo Yeo Jung for ‘Haeundae Lovers‘
I gave up the drama half way because I wasn't laughing at the jokes. I love both actors but together, didn't seems cute enough for me.
4. Shin Hyun Joon and Kim Jung Eun for ‘Oohlala Couple‘
NO. I wanted Kim Jung Eun with Han Jae Suk..they had more chemistry!
5. Um Tae Woong and Lee Bo Young for ‘The Equator Man‘
I didn't watched this. Lee Bo Young is nominate twice! I guess at least one she would win? LOL
6. Joo Won and Jin Se Yeon for ‘Bridal Mask’
Another drama I didn't watch..
7. Joo Won and Park Ki Woong for ‘Bridal Mask’
Although I didn't watch, I am guessing this will win for sure. Ironically they're actually enemies on the drama..but I think fans will vote for this because they're cute together off camera!
8. Song Joong Ki and Moon Chae Won for ‘Nice Guy‘
It's Song Joong Ki and Moon Chae Won, what's not to love? A definite win!
9. Cha Tae Hyun and UEE for ‘Jeon Woo Chi‘
Hard to tell, I am still on the early episode. I don't think it will win.
10. Yoo Jun Sang and Kim Nam Joo for ‘You Who Rolled In Unexpectedly‘
With Jun Sang named as Nation Son In Law, Nam Joo too as Nation Daughter in Law.. Fans of the mega hit drama will vote this couple for sure! Will definitely win!
11. Kim Sang Ho and Shim Yi Young for ‘You Who Rolled In Unexpectedly’
I was surprise they are nominated! I would love them to win, because I love their stories but hard to tell. Also surprise MinHyuk and Oh Yeon Seo wasn't nominated. They kiss a lot!
12. Lee Hee Jun and Jo Yun Hee for ‘You Who Rolled In Unexpectedly’
MY FAVORITE COUPLE OF THE YEAR!!! Their chemistry is no joke, don't care Lee Hee Joon had a girlfriend in real life, I just love this two together. If they don't win, I'll slap the KBS judges.
13. Lee Sang Yoon and Lee Bo Young for ‘My Daughter Seoyoung‘
Lee Sang Yoon seems like he loved Lee Bo Young more... I love seeing their scene, because Lee Sang Yoon is such a good husband but I feel pity for him sometimes. Yoon Jung Sang of YWRIU is also too good to be true husband but at least he seems realistic. Lee Sang Yoon listen to every single thing of his wife says.
14. Oh Chang Suk and Hwang Sun Hee for ‘Love, Love'
didn't watch. sorry!

I'm loving Phantom Sanchez & G.na Beautiful Day
I love a song that have a good intro. My favorite has always been piano instrumental, and the other one is with chorus. I am so happy they start with chorus because Sanchez vocals are so beautiful.
When the "woo woo" part enter, for a moment I cringe. Until I realize, this isn't unnecessary sound, it's actually there to mimick the sound of crying! Clever idea. I think the part really sets the right tone of the song.
I love that this is not a featuring, but a real duet. I think the parts are perfect for both of them. Their voice compliment each other, no one tried to outdo the other. Both of them had this sad quality voice that goes well togerher.
The first verse was great, the bridge was better, and the chorus is addicting! I love the lyrics, it's like they're having a conversation but it's not too literal. The songs reflect on despite the day being beautiful, they still feel sadness inside. Go look up for translation, I'm no poet. Lol
At first, I didn't know that it was Sanchez who did the rap part.. Because right after the rap part, it was Sanchez part again! I listen the second time, I was like "what?? How?" I want a live performance! I want to hear if Sanchez can transtition from rap to singing. Well, Hanhae can..maybe Sanchez could.
I think I love Sanchez voice a little too much, I was kind of not loving G.na part. Not that she wasn't good, rather I just want to hear more of Sanchez. I think she did justice on the song. I like her doing this kind of songs, more mellow yet still have good rhythm. I hate Cube focusing too much on sexy concept, 2Hot was so urgghhhh disappointing.
This song is on Dokkun Project part2 album. I think I might review it later, because Kim Do Hoon past project has been good, so I think it would be a great album to review. Phantom is part of Brand New Music but they debuted under Kim Do Hoon's WA Entertainment.
Do check out the MV! It could have been better but I like it.

Random thoughts on Kpop culture
Unless I am sure the person is likes Kpop, I rarely talk about Kpop stuff in public. I'm not on Facebook and I always use my @HallyuSurfer on twitter so I have no idea about what the public opinions on Kpop. I read here and there about people opinions on Kpop but I usually forget the bad ones because I am a Kpop fan, I'm used to trolls on allkpop.com
With Gangnam Style popularity, whether I like it or not... I could see more public opinions on Kpop culture. I find more reasons why I didn't want Kpop to be popular. I love Kpop in Korea, not outside Korea. I don't want Kpop to change because of wider audience. I'd like to say I don't care people talking crap about Kpop but no, it's heartbreaking.
Kpop is not a specific genre, it's constantly changing according to trends. Ironically I hate all the trends. Auto tunes, hook and "woo woo" are the fews I hate. Oh, if you're wondering what's "woo woo", this year there's so many song with that sound. I hate that sound, examples include Sistar Loving U and Alone, Teen Top To You, ChAOs Kiss Kiss and many more. Listen to this examples, and you'll get what I mean. Let's get back on track, Kpop has something for everyone, it's something you need to look further than what's on charts.
I don't necessary love every single song on Top20. My kind of Kpop is varied, I typically love cutesy concept for guys because only in Kpop where guys can pull cutesy. I don't have to say it, however I know there's some ignorant need me telling them, Korean are touchy but it doesn't equal homosexual. As for girls, I love confident concept like Rainbow's To Me, Ailee's I'll show you and most 2NE1 songs. I'm into the hip hop/RnB scene lately, I love Phantom, One Way and Untouchable stuffs. It's perhaps more relateable than other genre.
I wrote this post for those who have no idea what Kpop is and talk bad about it. Before saying those harsh words, do some research. Don't spread the hate for no reason. I'll show you how.
"Justin Bieber is overrated. His dance is stiff and his vocal is not very impressive to reach that popularity."
What... It's only example. Kpop is flawless to me. #blindedbylove. Sorry JB fans, I don't hate Justin, just feel he should work harder on his skills.
I don't ask haters to be a Kpop fan, I just want everyone to respect our fandom.
